Frederik Pohl passed away today at the age of 96

He is well known as a science fiction writer, but less known as an authority in Roman history (he wrote the Encyclopedia Britannica article on the emperor Tiberius)

I can't say I've read any of his titles, but he seems to have lived a full life.  I don't read a lot of science fiction, except the classics -- Dune, Battlefield Earth, The Moon is a Harsh Mistress, and the like. 

I used to love his books ... right up there with Bradbury and Heinlein. Maybe it's time to check out a couple of them at the library and become re-acquainted...
