I'm not sure I can narrow it down to one.

The first date I ever went on, at the start of my senior year of high school, with the gal who would be my sweetheart for the next three years.  Labor Day weekend 1970.  We went to the drive-in and saw "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid."

The first date I had with Becky from Anna, who I would date off and on (mostly off) for the next 30 years.  Labor Day weekend (not actually a theme here) 1975.  We went to the DuQuoin State Fair and watched a comedian (maybe Bob Hope, but I might be wrong about that).  Or perhaps the time that fall when we closed down the roadside bar out in the county at 2:00 a.m., then bought package, and went driving around the Ozark Hills in Southern Illinois.  I got her home at 4:00 in the morning, and her father was in the carport packing his car to go to work.  Becky begged me not to get out of the car, but I got out, walked over to him with my hand out, and said, "Mr. Edmonds, my name is Bob Burke."  He took my hand firmly, and said, "Don't be bringing my daughter home at 4 in the morning."

The date I had with Carol, who would be my sweetheart for the next three years, when we went to an amusement park at a nearby city, then to a fancy hotel in that city, and then love for the first time.

When I flew to San Francisco and met my future wife #2.

I guess the them here is "the first time," so I'll pick as "best" the date with Karen to go to the drive-in in 1970.

August 10, 2004 (30th wedding anniversary) -- spent the afternoon kayaking in Lake Wingra (Madison, WI), followed by a stop at Starbucks where we remembered that our favorite jazz artist (Ben Sidran) was playing in a free open air concert downtown in 1/2 hour -- quick drive to State Street where we found a parking spot in a garage less than 1/2 block from the concert. Spent the next couple hours enjoying the music and perfect weather, culminating in us hanging with the band and having our photo taken with Ben! And that was just the beginniing of a perfect evening! Four years later, Ann passed away after 34 years of marriage.

Some things are just meant to happen!

Old Mike....what a great "one of the last" memories with your wife. Its not been very long so I'm sure you miss her still very much!

Hmm...still waiting for the "best date", I think....LOL!

One of the most "interesting" people I ever went out with was a guy from Holland, living in Pittsburgh for about 15 years. I kinda grew up knowing quite a bit about the Dutch culture but I learned a lot more. HE introduced me to a European restaurant chain in Pittsburgh and Belgian beers. He had a little tidbit of inside info about everything I ate and drank that you would only know being in Holland and Belgium extensively. Him and I still talk/text weekly and meet up for a Belgian beer and Belgian Frites (fries) once in a while

I recently broke up with a guy who will always be dear to my heart but has too many personal issues to work on without having to maintain a relationship. The first 6 months or so after we started dating, everywhere we went, he would say "THIS is our first date!" We would get these sweet responses from waitresses and well...it made me feel very special!! I'm not even sure when he quit saying that....probably when he would forget and tell the SAME person over again....LOL!! We had some good times, actually.
