Thoroughly enjoyed Khaled Hosseni's AND THE MOUNTAINS ECHOED.
Tried reading Nora Robert's WHISKEY BEACH next. It didn't hold my attention and didn't care for any of the characters except, maybe, Grandmother Hester. I like being able to relate to either a person, place or situation at least in some small way.
Now reading Jo Nesbo's THE REDEEMER. WOW! The Salvation Army plays a major role in the story. This book is a Harry Hole thriller. So hold on to your seat belts!!!
What's everyone else reading or are you taking a reading vacation?

Reading David Crockett:The lion of the West by Michael Wallis. Surprisingly it's a NY times best seller. The grave of Polly Crockett is only a few miles from here but I have never visited it, but I have resolved to do so in the next few days. A number of descendents of people mentioned in the book are still around and I live within a mile of "Bean's Creek" ,the creek that Davy and Polly settled near.I'm really enjoying the read and it's even a 4.5 star on Amazon.

Finished Chasing Darkness by Robert Crais, one of the Elvis Cole/Joe Pike series, yesterday and have started reading the third Tahoe book in the series by Todd Borg, Tahoe Ice Grave.
I love his characters and the witty dialogue... also love the big dog in the books, a Harlequin Great Dane named Spot who figures strongly in each book. My daughter has a Dane and our neighbor up north also has a Dane... both gentle giants.
However, although I love his writing, I hope Borg comes up with a more convincing ending in this book. The first two were really strange. Sadly there is only one more of this 10 book series at our library... they only have 4... I may have to try Half Price Books to continue the series.
June 22: Book hangover
When you've finished a book and you suddenly return to the real world, but the real world feels incomplete or surreal because you're still living in the world of the book.
"I have a really bad book hangover today, I could hardly concentrate at work."
Just got back from Camping - I'll be around later tonight or tomorrow - that quote was from Urban Word of the Day - which often contains a LOT of "street lingo"..."adult slang"

Just finished William Landays first two books and liked them both much better than the third. Anyone else read these. I am now reading A Rule Against Murder by Louise Penny - love her books, so glad you guys turned me on to her. Next up I have Ordinary Grace by William Kent Krueger, isn't June just flying by...
Good luck on your move Carolyn... so many of our friends are selling their homes and moving to condos and apartments at this stage of their lives but we have been in the same house over 45 years now and will hang in there for awhile yet...
I'll have to try those audio books one of these days. Do you borrow them from the library? Tried a couple in the car a few years back (Sue Grafton) and enjoyed them but fell asleep partway through and didn't know what I'd missed when I woke up. At least when I read a book in the car, the story stops when I fall asleep... lol...
And I second that appreciation for rapa, barb and the rest of you who keep my days interesting and my book shelf overflowing...So happy to have found all of you years ago on Eons.
