What is the most expensive mistake you have ever made?

That's a no-brainer.....marrying my last husband.  It cost me a house, for starters.  And he left me with a ton of bills....including a tax bill for the State of Indiana.  I lost a truck over that one.  That's why I won't marry again....no how, no way!

one of our project cars went wrong, really wrong.11/22/78

Boy, Karin, I had almost the same thing happen to me with my 1st husbin, diff. state but a tax bill & one for the IRS too, sigh.

Like Karin and Officer, my second husband...before I met him I owned my own home no debts. After a 3 year divorce process in which he would agree to nothing and the attorney bills kept getting bigger I said screw it let him have everything and moved out of state. Everything I owned at that time fit into a van. Even so starting over was so much easier than living with that monster.

I've been fairly good with money, even though I don't have a lot. No real expensive mistakes moneywise. Marrying the woman I did cost me 30 years that I can't get back.

Buying a Cadillac.  What an expensive POS :(

Just yesterday I had to spend money I don't have to spare....$ 69.00 to remove a bad virus called Mixi.DJ  (toolbar) and it's originator called conduit.com and many other components to the virus....I spent 3 hours trying to remove it myself and did remove some components, but "It was STILL THERE!". I finally paid someone to remove it remotely. I am glad to be rid of it. I think I downloaded something free from a cnet page and it was hidden in the terms or hell I dunno....crap...it was like twisting my brain to get that thing off by myself. You should have seen it...I have 2 browsers Firefox and Internet Explorer...it was on them BOTH! Crap! I am so glad to have it gone. They guaranteed their work at this place. Neither Malware Bytes deep scan... which took over 2 hrs....nor, my antivirus "Avira" found it nor warned me, nor removed it upon re-scanning. Just watch out when you download things....I am usually super careful, but did not catch this one.

when you say you paid someone to remove it remotely, do you mean they're online too?  or someone local removed it from their place?

I got infected with some malicious adware / malware/ crimeware, whatever you want to call it.  Drove me crazy for four weeks when I finally found the source, a 3rd party software download pos disguised as JAVA TOOLBAR.  Couldn't REMOVE software from control panel either; downloaded freeware YOUR UNINSTALER  and that finally got rid of the damn thing.  Boy are they getting sneaky...

You know what? I really do not know where it came from and I had done a Java update thing the day before. I wonder..... It wasn't a toolbar, but rather a search bar. The company that removed it was online. I first googled "How do I get rid of Mixi.DJ search bar?" There were all sorts of suggestions and I tried several. There were step by step instructions. I followed them as far as I could understand them. But, there was a part that showed me where conduit.com was still in there, but the instructions to remove it from there did not work. All of the places I looked at for information referred to this as malicious. It stated that it often changed it's name and was therefore undetectable when searched out to remove it. It scared me when they said it follows your activities and gathered personal information and had the potential to get your banking information if you did banking online. I check my account often enough because I use my debit card for many purchases. So when I saw a link for a company that could remove the threat and it is guaranteed or you don't pay, I just had to take no more chances. I will remember Your Uninstaller though. That sounds great! The malware had been on my computer for 2-3 days though and it was a worry to me.

I won $32.00 on the Kentucky Derby winner yesterday.....if I had a memory and a brain, I would have made a smarter bet. My boyfriend said I would've won $900 dollars if I had done it the way he showed me (on several OTHER occassions) and I cant seem to GET IT. But luckily, my man just smiled and said, Congratulations, Baby, you DID win SOMETHING!! OH WELL....I never feel like any of that is BAD because I'm doing it for fun, I ALWAYS come out EVEN or BETTER, and I am NOT spending money I dont have.
