TBD

TBD on Ning

Am thoroughly enjoying Elizabeth Strout's THE BURGESS BOYS.  Almost finished Jonathan Kellerman's GUILT, which I put on the back burner. Next up William Kent Kruger's stand alone novel ORDINARY GRACE.  Tomorrow will pick up Harlan Coben's SIX YEARS and Lisa Gardner's TOUCH & GO.  Have 7 more on my reserve list and hope they don't come in anytime soon!  My plate runneth over!!!

What are you reading?

Finished Ordinary Grace and Deadly Virtues last week... both excellent.  I am now reading The Hunt Club by John Lescroart.  This is the first time I've read this author and it's the first of 3 Wyatt Hunt books by him.  Always nice to have a couple more to look forward to...

I just finished Killer Instinct by Joseph Finder.  Finder writes some very good thrillers. I am now enjoying The Round House by Louise Erdrich, decidedly a big change of pace from the Finder novel.

Know what you mean, lorouch!  THE ROUND HOUSE is a story unto itself.

Just picked up "Killing Kennedy" at the local library.  Although I am not a fan of Bill O'Reilly as a political commentator, I appreciate that the "Killing Lincoln" book was  NYT top seller and one of the best accounts of the events surrounding his death that I have ever read.  Accordingly, this book hit the top of the NYT best sellers and has a lot of the same promise, as I consumed the first 60 pages in one sitting.  It is very well written and meticulously documented.  You feel you are there experiencing the surrounding events all over again.  I expect the associate writer, Martin Dugard, is the reason for the high quality of the account.  I recently read the Stephen King novel on the assassination, "11-22-63," which was a very unique prospective on the same subject by a man who found a way to go back in time to influence the history.  Both books are worthwhile reading for fans who lived the drama and the heartache and are consumed with the intrigue of the "crime of the 20th century.  This is a very good book.

Mandy muffin....can I even tell you how much I'm enjoying James Sheehan!!! OH EM GEE! So the DH aka Dan'l (we aren't lost, just exploring) Boone and I both engaged in the audiobook "The Law of Second Chances" and the very last disc is corrupted!!! So we re-order from library and have it available this weekend! Needless to say we read "The Mayor of Lexington Avenue" as well! Now, the big search and wait goes on for "The Lawyers Lawyer" which isn't available on Audio....yet.

I need to pop over to Barnes & Noble on line and see if they recommend any writers who are similar...sometimes they say "If you liked that book...you MIGHT like this?"~mellowgal

Thank you Carolyn!  I appreciate that a book choice I made this month has found another reader who appreciates the novel, "The Mayor of Lexington Avenue." As far as location is concerned, for me it combines the street in NYC where I worked for a while and got the job offer that lasted me 35 years of my career (GE Building-570 Lex/prior to it being 30 Rock) and my love for the Florida Everglades where I have lived for the past 10 years enjoying my retirement.

I am currently reading the "Fifth Avenue" trilogy.  It is crisp and action packed as it delves into bad goings-ons in the Big Apple.  I am in the midst of the second book right now and enjoying the world of high finance and shady inside trading.  http://www.amazon.com/Fifth-Avenue-Series-Boxed-ebook/dp/B0077J5FNY  It is well worth the price Amazon is asking for the three book set.

I'm not getting any "notifications", what have I done wrong?

I don't get any notifications so can't help you.  I just check the site willy nilly!  I did send you a PM over a week ago and hope that you received it.

Yes, I got your PM!  But I was only thinking it was weird when two or three days go by and nothing shows up in my inbox for TBD.

Hope everything is going well with you and yours, Rapa.  I think of you often.

Joanne, our group is much smaller now than during the era of eons. Traffic lately has been slow; it comes and goes. If no one posts, you'll have no notifications.  This seems to be the season for Spring clean-ups, grandchildren, graduations, relocating, travel, etc. Traffic is usually heavier in Jan/Feb and during the hot summer months when folks hunker down. BTW, what are you reading?  I'm well into Mary Higgins Clark's recent release DADDY'S GONE A HUNTING.   It's quite a good read.  She hasn't lost her touch for telling a story!

Just checking in...  have been up north since last Monday with no internet until now...  hence I have not posted for the last week.

Since the beginning og the month I have finished Ordinary Grace (wonderful), Six Years (very good), Deadly Virtues (an English mystery) and  The Hunt Club by John Lescroart which was OK but not wonderful. It was full of boring legal processes during much of the book but the mystery was a good one with an intereting twist at the end.  I may or may not try the second one in that series depending on what other books I have on my TBR pile...  lol

I am now reading The Storyteller by Jodie Picoult.  I have read many but not all of her books.  This was is very compelling as I get into Grandma Minka story of her life during WWII.  I am a sucker for WWII stories, having read many really good ones in the past couple of years.  They make me realize how lucky we are (so far) to have been born in the here and now.  Let's pray history doesn't repeat it's past mistakes.

I am finishing up the month with the new Nelson DeMille, "The Panther."  DeMille has given me excellent stories over the years, some set in the NYC area, while others have taken me to the remote corners of the world.  His story, "The Gold Coast," which is about a NYC crime boss, is considered a classic.  http://nelsondemille.net/content/index.asp  This terrorist trail will take US clandestine service agents deep into the heart of Yemen after a  radical who is out of control in a killing frenzy.
