TBD on Ning

Our Friends of the Library group is holding a book sale - I'm doomed. I've worked it the last couple of days & I'm headed back today & tomorrow. Brought home 4 books yesterday - - did I mention I'm doomed? How could I possibly pass over a book titled "Jimi Hendrix Turns Eighty"? It was $2 for a hardback - I'll let you know how it is!

I decided yesterday to just work in the genres that don't interest me - so far that's exercise & vegetarian cooking. We'll see how that works for me.

Did I mention that I'm doomed?

There is nothing like the words "Book Sale" to make me stop and shop.  I never walk away without a bunch of books that I probably don't need.

In our library book sale (coming soon) you pay $5 they give you a brown grocery bag.

You fill it  with however much it can take.

My wife has set a rule something must go out before something is brought in

One of our branches is having a Book Sale today.  I'm joining the "doomed" club, bopeep!  Another branch will be having an enormous one in May.  I always go, saying "not gonna buy anything" then come home with half dozen or so.

I have absolutely NO room left for new books, but can't help myself.  Is there a functioning group I could join, like AA?  I know our Bookoholics should help with that, but it only encourages me to get more for my TBR stack.  AIIEEEEE!

We're doing the $5 bag sale tomorrow - and yes, sadly, I'll get a bagful.

Hey, today I only bought 1 book & it's for my brother!

I know how you feel.  My library always has a shelf with books for sale and I end up with a pile in my garage because I buy a couple or more everytime I go in to return and pickup books.  There is no cure for a bookoholic - didn't you know that.  LOL  - I do donate my books to Goodwill and to the library so eventually it is supposed to come out even.  Now if I had more time for reading - maybe I could solve the problem.  Good luck to all of you.

Maybe it's like not going to the grocery store hungry...Just read a lot before you go to a book sale.....Well..it might work.

Response to "DOOMED!!! Y'all are so cracking me up!!! Sorry I've been AWOL - Grandkids for couple weeks in Ft. Lauderdale and then the whole "vacation pay-back" when returning to the Office. Book Sale coming up at my library as well on 6/4 - with "get-ready" by our "Friends of the Library" team. I always bring home a bunch as well. Ship some around to family, of course.

I'm currently reading C.J Box latest plus trying out a few new to me Authors which I will post my reviews after reading/listening. Seems like I have more books to add to the "Disappointing" topic than anything wonderful. The search continues....leave the light on for me...I'll be around.~mellowgal

I was doomed to be a bookoholic when I received a set of children's book to read.  Then I got a library card and the books keep coming.  When I started earning money I found out about bookstores, thrift stores and book sales.  It is not a bad habit however bookoholics are the only people who understand my behavior.  The rest of the world wants me to toss the clutter of books.........in every shelf, on the floor, on end tables!!!

Good book sale. I don't know what the final proceeds totaled but everyone was pleased. Still A LOT of books left even after Bag Day. Our librarian has found a group that pays to ship your books to them & they re-sell them & return 20% of the profits to the library. We'll be doing that soon as we just don't have storage space for them. Pesky fire marshall.....

The daughter & her guy bought 2 bags yesterday, I did well - only about half a bag & they're mostly for other people!

Sono, I laughed at your reply - I think that's how most of us started this addiction. But it's an addiction I'll gladly (and hopefully) enjoy till my dying day!
