Glad to read your review, Ray! Did I ever post the pic of me with Robert Crais? He's an absolutely lovely man!
I started Suspect yesterday and am halfway through it. Crais is a gifted storyteller and I've read several of his past novels.
I am a dog lover and I agree that the bond between Scott and Maggie is the best part of this book so far. I haven't enjoyed a dog's point of view this much since Almondine in The Story of Edgar Sawtelle. I've learned some amazing facts along with this entertaining story... highly recommended so far!
As for Boo (the furkid at upper left) & I... "We are Pack."
I finished Suspect this morning and LOVED IT.... LOVED IT... LOVED IT! I was sorry to have it end. Any one who is a dog person will love this book IMHO.
I'm on the waiting list for it at the library; I started out at 15th on the list, now down to 4, so I'll get it soon, I hope.
I don't usually buy animal books because they always make me cry. I bought this book because Robert Crais was the author. I loved the book, couldn't put it down -- it was just too short! I hope there are more about these characters.
I'm like Glenda, not usually buying the animal books since they usually make me cry too and I almost put this one down while it was taking place in Afghanistan. But I picked it back up & boy am I glad I did, I too loved, loved, loved it and am also going to check out the rest of Crais' books, I too had never read any before.
And any dog person would also like Spencer Quinn's mysteries, the Chet & Bernie series, about a P.I. & his dog Chet, very well done.
I've read all of Chet & Bernie's books... they are the best!
Finished this book last night as couldn't put it down. Watching the bonding grow between Scott and Maggie was magical. This seems to be the first time Crais has included a dog among his characters. I wonder if he has his own four legged friend. This was a really good read!!!! Now back to SIX HOURS.
