How did you find this book, Slopok?  It sounds good but when I went to Amazon it's not free.  Not expensive so might buy it anyway but if there's a way to get a book free, so much the better!  Thanks!

Not free... $3.99

Only free for Prime members...  which I am not  :(

I went to http://kindlenationdaily.com/ and "liked" them on facebook and I get Stuff on facebook...sometmes  books are only free for 1 day...I'm on FB because my kids are.

Sounds like "Ereader News" & "Pixel of Ink"...  one day freebies.  I'll keep a watch for this one... usually they come around more than once.

I will too; the same ones do repeat.

You're right; sometimes they do repeat.  What I've done if I've missed the free day for 1 I'm interested in, I bookmark its page on amazon & check every day; I've managed to catch a couple for free that way.

Thanks for the great idea!

You're welcome! :-)

There are kindle books that the author offer for free. These are usually by unknown authors who want to get better exposure. The author can change their mind and start charging for that work if they feel like it.

Sometimes the kindle books are discounted for one day only, sometimes up to a week. Sometimes the discount is a few dollars sometimes if is offered free.

In order to get the best deal you need to check out the latest offers for that day and get them while they are discounted. There are a number of sites that offer these tips, the following one is one of the better ones, it is informative and reliable.

I was able to get some well known works for a very reasonable price and I got acquainted with some authors that I had not read before for example Octavia Butler. And it does work, after you read these works you usually want more of the same.

I have sometime highlighted some features from the above blog, for example Margaret Atwood's The Handmaid Tail was offered for $1.99 a couple of weeks back.

If you would like we can create a special discussion for those exceptional deals. Your best bet is to consult the blog above often.

The problem with these offers is that unless you know the book before hand, you don't know if it is worth recommending it to the Bookoholics group. By the time you read it and like it the discount is usually gone.

For instance today I got the following two books for free

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00560R3WM/gagler-20

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00AGJXQ2E/gagler-20

If you have a kindle fire you can get the blog above as an app on your kindle, it is more convenient than going through the browser.

That is great info...Thanks Lip Service.

A book that is free today is a legal thriller/mystery
