. . . . . . . .  I may be totally wrong about this, but could someone please tell me, why I should care about the situation with Lance Armstrong. The media is driving me nuts with this story. I'm sorry, I just don't care about "doping athletes". This is a waste of time. Aren't there more important news stories to report on?

Well, no, this has a lot of ramifications on how many, and how many important people Armstrong duped, or, let duped themselves that, Armstrong was the image he created about himself and those around him let create.

it is also about what we allow athletes get away with and how we hold them accountable for not just what they do, but say and have said about them.  And yes, it is also about the merits of celebrity hood, the only form of nobility our republic allows, and our media creates and sustains.

And so it might be with Armstrong in that he did provide hope and encouragement to some with cancer and then there is the Armstrong's Livestrong  foundation that also did some good based on the false celebrity he had gained.

We can be very harsh, demanding and judgmental on those that we really don't know and of course not without cause, yet we live in a world that needs to be reminded of both what someone does wrong as they do the right, in Armstrong's case, he isn't the only one to use what he can get away with to accomplish what others can't, can't do without cheating.
