and since I've not read it:  THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY by Mary Ann Shaffer and Annie Barrows  http://www.amazon.com/Guernsey-Literary-Potato-Peel-Society/dp/0385...

Having just finished TWO GRAVES I'm ready for a change of venue!  Am sure these will keep me occupied for three weeks!

Rapa, I loved the Guernsey book and hope to visit there some day.  I'll be adding the others to my list for after my trip, of course.

How was Two Graves? I always love Preston Child books but was wondering about the premise of this one.

TWO GRAVES was the third of trilogy regarding Agent Aloysius Pendergast, super hero. The story begins with the resurrection of his murdered wife, Helen, and her final demise.  Aloysius goes into mourning but is called into action to investigate a serial killer who chooses NYC hotel patrons by random. The investigation later takes him into the jungles of Brazil.  Constant mind boggling action throughout the book. The reader is exhausted by the conclusion which defies reality.

I loved the Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society. It was different from what I thought it would be. They were truly a village that cared for each other.

I read TGL&PPPS and enjoyed it tremendously. It gave a great insight into the Channel Islands and the conditions during the war.  I once spend a month camping in the Outback of Australia with a girl from Guernsey.  But that's another story.

That's a long time to go without your library, rapa. Will you be OK? Do we need to send books? Are you sure you've stockpiled enough???

It's truly one of my fears in life - I'm stuck somewhere & have nothing to read. Arrggghh!

Thanks, tnbopeep, will let you know if I need a CARE package!!!  I do have seven free books downloaded to my iPad Kindle to keep as backup for emergencies.  My preference is reading hardbacks!!!

Currently reading THE CALLIGRAPHER'S DAUGHTER.   Excellent!

Rapa I liked The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society book.  Hope you do too.  Have not read the others.  Happy reading!!

Am actually devouring THE GUERNSEY LITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY!!!!!!  Fabulous, hilarious read for all bookies!!!!!

Tnbopeep I too worry about having nothing to read wherever I am going.  I am so lost if I don't have a book with me.  Am I ADD and must be occupied at all times I wonder??  LOL

You read so fast I am thinking it's not enough.  I wonder what you will think of The Guernesy. . . ?  I could not get into it and I really wanted to read it having heard so many good things.

Absolutely loved THE GUERNESY lITERARY AND POTATO PEEL PIE SOCIETY, Grammie Sue!!!!!!   It was hilarious and touching.  When finished I felt that I was leaving friends.  Hope you give it another try when you have more time.
