Is Obama selling out his base again or will the Republicans save him by not getting enough and sell out the country again.

these folks are delusional....

As Republican House Speaker John Boehner is negotiating with President Barack Obama on a deal to avoid sending the country over the "fiscal cliff" come Jan. 1, conservative leaders are publicly urging Republicans in Congress to resist pressure to compromise.

An open letter circulated on Wednesday and signed by more than 100 conservatives never explicitly addresses the "fiscal cliff" talks but warns Republicans that they are "entering into a period of testing." It says they have "a mandate to fight for conservative principles" because they maintained firm control of the House on Election Day.

Among the signers are Al Cardenas, chairman of the American Conservative Union; Ginni Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas; Foster Friess, a Wyoming businessman who helped bankroll a super PAC supporting Rick Santorum's presidential bid; and longtime conservative activists Richard Viguerie and Phyllis Schlafly.

Sell out, no, need to do something yes, and in the short run for appearances only, probably as they tee up the can.

The real work is yet to come, and no, it won't be pretty, not pretty at all.

The idea of taking the Thelma and Louise approach does nothing to further the brand of either Democrat or Republican to the public.  But that isn't who is really involved, it is the bases that have made the investment and now want their return on that investment from the 2012 election.

And yes, it is perishable, an election, because there is always another one to be run and won, and for a lame duck it is already done, and now it is legacy time and how to be remembered as either a winner or loser and how that impacts history, assuming the real cliff isn't 12-21.

I don't see how the Democratic Brand can be hurt.  It's the Republicans who are doing everything they can to cut more taxes for the 2% while trying to destroy Medicare and SS Safety Net for the 98%.

You do know this is all just make believe...This cliff.

Correct, db, this isn't a geological formation, it was put together by votes, both Democrat and Republican.

talk about delusional...i just had read a piece in which a conservative claims they 'got the majority of the votes' in the election.....see why you can't let them write budgets? they can't do basic math..
