I am an drug and alcohol counselor and yet I am drunk as I write this. 4 1/2 years sober and clean, but I feel wonderful with wine. Do any of you have thoughts as to why I aught not be so happy? (It comes in a box. Who would have thought?) My articles come out so much better. ( I think it's because I don't edit myself so much). So maybe some of you religious folks have some saving prayer, (or damnanation), for my slip. or perhaps some of you can understand it. I'd like to hear it either way. Michaael

You're the only one who knows yourself well enough to know what you can handle.
How do you feel about it today? Was it worth it? Will you do it again?
It might have been a 'slip', a 'regression', a 'treat' or a 'reward'. I think that depends on what happens next.
Will you finish the box and buy another?
Keep us updated.
I'm no expert for sure, but in my opinion, which you asked for.....alcohol is alcohol whether it comes in a box or a toe sack. You went off the wagon plain and simple. How you handle that is up to your character.
I broke the smoking habit 9 years ago.....very hard to do. Tried 4 times before I succeeded, but it took only one puff to start back again each of those 4 times.
I'm not real sure how to respond Michael. It's hard for me to judge as I am an alcoholic. I drink beer daily. I can, and have, quit, but I'm not ready to give it up yet. I think of myself as a functioning alcoholic. It is rare for me to crack a beer before 6 PM and for the most part stay away from hard alcohol. (been there, done that, bought the souvenir tee shirt, and got the tattoo)
Being sober for 4 1/2 years is quite an accomplishment. If this is a "slip" as you say, what the hell, we are all human. If this is something more than a once in a blue moon situation, that may be something you will have to do some soul searching about.
There will be a "Blue Moon" the last day of this month.
Just hoping you are doing well Michael.
