TBD

TBD on Ning

Suggestions anyone?

Right now take-out Chinese sounds good. Except my favorite place doesn't deliver and I don't want to go out. In the heat. And the rain. And the Tornado warning.

Do you like Chinese food?

You know, that Michelina can sure make a good meal.  And where does she find the time to put 'em those little boxes and get 'em to my grocery store?

Fish tonight.  Grouper.  Did you ever see one of those?  Ugliest fish ever.

Fish and mac & cheese

I had cookies for breakfast, so I haven't wanted any lunch.  Would it be bad if I had cookies again for dinner?  Even if I switched kinds?

I hope I don't receive any demerits for going off topic a little bit, but I have important news to report from my little piece of The Leelanau.

The greasy spoon has re-opened, but only until the end of this month, when it will close for good.  They lost their lease.  I guess they reopened mainly to say their goodbyes, and to try to sell off some of the trinkets they also sold in there.

I ate breakfast at the greasy spoon yesterday, but will try to hold out today until 10AM, when the new bar and grill is having a $10.00 brunch.  I just hope it isn't too yupped up.

The new yuppie place closed up for the month of March. Their winter business was abysmal.  They also serve breakfasts, when they're open.  Its a little different there.....since the proprietor is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of American, his menu has items that showcase his talents, rather than items that we actually want.

The Brew-Ha has stayed open all winter, except they close on Sundays.  They usually have a few items that could qualify for a breakfast, in a pinch.  However, having a scone, or a small individual box of cereal isn't my idea of getting good value for your $$$.

I am perfectly qualified to make my own greasy breakfast at home, and have been known to come up with absolutely wonderful offerings (in my opinion).  The only thing lacking with the eating at home scenario is having no casual conversations with other diners.

OK, thank you for your time....please carry on as you were.

Your updates are always welcome.

I like your updates!  Sorry you'll be losing your greasy spoon, though.

I'm so sorry to hear about your greasy spoon :(
I would miss mine terribly should it ever close.

`sigh`  The greasy spoons have become relics from the past, I'm afeared.  We've pretty much had them up here in my corner of the world for about twenty years now.  I don't ever expect another one to open.

On the plus side, I've amassed the ingredients to make a killer baked Mexican breakfast.  Today, though, I think I'll down to the spoon again.

We had a new restaurant open recently. "Casual Upscale" dining. WTH??? They have yogurt and steel cut oats on the breakfast menu. And, flavored coffees.

When I eat breakfast out it's because I want fried eggs and fried potatoes and bacon. I have yogurt and oats every other day of the week, I don't want that in a restaurant...

Q, I think "casual upscale" means, 1) you'd better eat before you go there, and 2) you'd better be prepared to wait a while for your food, which will be artfully arranged on a large plate when you get it.

Yeah....they care more about how it looks than how it tastes......and the income level of the patrons.
