harassment?

In light of the the Herman Cain foofaraw what would you, man or woman, consider to be so out of line as to make you uncomfortable in the work place??

What's your personal definition?

You two are just sad...
Cute, but sad
:))
I was shooting for cute, but I guess that is sad.
Since I change jobs more than my underwear I've been privileged to attend more than a handful of company sexual harassment classes...some even involved role playing. So I know exactly what constitutes harassment. The problem is that the rules are often applied capriciously or in a discriminatory manner. Case in point...I'm known for telling R and X rated tales of wonderment in break rooms, cafeterias, office hallways. A young woman complained to the president...he told her to put her fingers in her ears when I was around.

I mostly keep my eyes straight ahead, glued to my 'puter screen, at work.

However, being an old bastard, I have perfected the fine arts of ogling and thinking lascivious thoughts.

I think it's gotten out of hand on the other end of PC. It is SO easy to be offended these daze. I mean, just get along will ya? live and let live!

"Live and let live"????

Being harrassed and being offended are two different things.

You were never cornered at the company Christmas party by a drunk sales manager insisting on a kiss, were you?

You were never spoken poorly of by a Vice President who wanted to make you look bad because you spurred his advances, were you?

Because the law is so ambiguous, and favors the harassee sometimes, in error, does not mean that anyone should just "live and let live."

I do believe that the harassee has an obligation to ask the harasser to stop. If it does not stop further action needs to be taken.

It, is recipe for disaster and ruined reputations; a past time for those capering.

Iteresting subject; Sexual Harassment.

After retirement from the army in 1979, I went to work for a defense contractor in 1981. The company was priviately owned by 4 engineers and a former assistant director of finance for Lyndon Johnson.  I started out as Personnel Director for one of the five subsideraries and 17 years later was a Director of Programs, for the parent company. During that period every one of the owners was involved in Sexual Harrasment lawsuits. And rightfully so. They all took advantage of thier position to solicit sexual relationships with their employees.  In most cases the employees were receptive to their advances until something about the relationship soured. In many cases the employees instigated the relationship. I remember vividly one time that  was task with hiring a new administrative assistant for a VP. After a good looking applicant had a half hour interview behind a closed door with the VP in his office, I was informed that there was no reason to schedule any other interviews. She did turn out to be one of the best Admin assistants that we ever had. But one night, out drinking, she told me that she had performed the "blow Job" of a lifetime to get the job.

I do not chose to judge behavior in the work place, but if sexual advances are made, and rejected, that should be the end of it. There should be no repeat and no threat of firing due to the outcome.  It should not be the basis of the decision to hire or not hire, In the past it was strictly the male in charge. Now it is starting to be examples of both sexes in positions to use sex as a hiring criteria. It will be interesting to see how this all evolves.

However, if what the latest accusor says is a true account, it should disqualify Cain as a canidate.

I've seen too much abuse of that rule to have much faith in the veracity of many cases.

This would probably qualify in most circles...

Where'd you find that pic of me?
