it looks like we're winding down, and nobody bothered to open a discussion today, so i thought i'd just set up a thread for this month, and let whoever wanders in, whenever, post to it.  if our moderator wants to do something differently, you'll doubtless hear about it.

after realizing that i didn't need to move to MI, i'm going to Staunton, VA, the last week of this month, and thinking to plant myself there for the rest of my life.  no other roots yet, other than that's the home of the state's premier mental institution, altho' i've never (yet) been there.

the remnants of Independence Day week must be going slowly, since nobody's been here.  

yeah, i don't want to sign off tbd completely, but i realize that facecrack is taking over and all the follow-ons to TBD are slowly fading into oblivion.  still, i'm grateful for the people that Robyn's creation let me connect with, and i am glad to have that facecrack thingee so i don't lose track of my online friends completely.  

if nobody else starts in August, we can just sign off.  i'll be on the road that month.

Good morning!  Any cake left over?  I'm craving chocolate.  Yep, it's only 8:30.  Iced tea and chocolate.  Great start to the day.

 

Robbie!  Glad you're there, we've missed you.  Some of you may not understand this, but they're calling for rain today, and I think we actually might get it!  That makes me VERY happy.  

 

My family reunion is this weekend in Kentucky.  I'll be missing it.  We go to the beach next week, shortly after that is our meet, and I just couldn't afford all three, nor could I take off any more time from the office.  So. . . I'll be watching FB all weekend, looking at all the family fun pics, and wishing I were there. I know they're having fun.  What a crazy group the family is.  I think this is the 34th year in a row for the family reunion. I  think that's pretty impressive, especially because we all LIKE each other!

Good morning Chris!!!  Good luck with the car.  It needs to be in tip top shape for the drive to Pittsburgh in 3-1/2 WEEKS!!!!  Woo hoo!  I think Larry's sitting at his desk right now doing a map for everyone. .  I know HE'S excited!  I can't wait.

Rain?? I took Happy out for his morning walk. We got wet!! What the hell is this? There was no thunder! No lightning! How did this happen? It can't rain without thunder and lightning and wind blowing!

I start work Sunday. Guess I better get in gear and get set up before then.

Good afternoon Lynn and all.  Taken it easy today except for removing a few boards to start the great porch project.  No going back now.  lol

I hope not completely.  Just some leveling, reinforcing, sanding the 100 years of paint off the floor boards, then repainting.  So not too bad ........... yet.  lol

okay, i hope there are no surprises underneath!

i nailed down a date with movers, today.  had gotten a formal "estimate" from one of the national moving companies, they want $2K!!  i nearly fell over!  there is very little inside this house -- minimal kitchen, my clothes, 2 bedrooms, a couch, end tables, and dining table, and 4 antique pieces.  maybe 2 dozen boxes total, including wardrobes.  so i went with the by-the-hour crew, which even if it takes a long day, will come in about half what the Atlas van lines folks wanted.  wow!  there's just nothing here that i'll miss even if it falls off the truck, it's all replaceable, not worth kid glove prices.

but anyhow, moving day will be monday the 25th, so that'll give me a little over a week before i head west for my conference, and i'll be able to come back for a day and finish cleaning (ugh), too.  yay!

Well you know, those burly college guys looking for summer work are expensive.  Hahaha  Something is happening anyway.  I'll cheer you on from here......  GO LYNN!!!  How's that?

that'll work!  i don't think it's college guys, he sounds like a young-ish good ol' boy, but as long as they bring muscle and strong backs, and a running truck, that's all i need!
