Do you have a favorite line from a poem you've known for years?

"The woods are lovely, dark and deep.

but i have promises to keep

and miles to go before I sleep."

Learned that in grade school and it stuck in my head for some reason. So what's stuck in yours?

hey d's girl, yes that sounds great and I'm jealous that I've never been.
Michael, an atbash is a simple substitution cipher for the Hebrew alphabet and can be applied to the art of cryptography. In the Medieval period ciphers were used to pass information between kingdoms. There was a code by which to open the cipher. Inside the cipher was a scroll (usually of papyrus paper) wrapped around a vial of vinegar. Should the cipher fall into the wrong hands, the person attempting to open the cipher without the correct code would crack the vial containing the vinegar which would dissolve the papyrus paper. And yes, I was reading The DaVinci code.

Here's a Hafiz line a gf shared w/me recently that I LOVE...

Look what happens with a love like that. It lights the whole sky.

Hey d's girl, can you write the next line for this?

While walking in the wind today

not very far from here

a little man was blown my way

his face all flushed with cheer.

He seemed to be a joyful soul
From Tyger by William Blake........When the stars threw down their spears,
And watered heaven with their tears,
Did he smile his work to see?
Did he who made the Lamb make thee?
The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom. ...From Maya Angelous... I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings
i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

My candle burns at both ends
It will not last the night;
But ah, my foes, and oh, my friends -
It gives a lovely light.

ruby red, that's a great one!
There is a door you have closed forever
And some mirror is expecting you in vain;
To you the crossroads seem wide open,
Yet watching you, four-faced, is a Janus.

There is among all your memories one
Which has now been lost beyond recall.
You will not be seen going down to that fountain
Neither by white sun nor by yellow moon.
