...any "Crud Bums" when you were a kid?
Crud Bums.....I don't know where we got that term, but the whole family used it, even Pops, who was mostly clueless to "hip" terms.
To us, a Crud Bum was a disreputable person, mostly male, maybe kind of scruffy looking...shifty....the kind of kid your parents didn't want you to be around. A kid who cheated at marbles could be one. It could be an adult, too......just some guy walking along the street might be dubbed "Crud Bum".
Eddie Haskell comes to mind, but he was pretty slick looking. Pig Pen, in Peanuts, was kinda close, but he wasn't disreputable. Kramer? Naw, he was goofy, but not a Crud Bum. Maybe a guy like Jim Rockford, in more bummy clothes, would be a good example. There were a couple kids in my 'hood who qualified. I wonder what ever happened to 'em?

I went to High School with a number of them. hell, I probably was classified that way by some.
We also called them Crum Bums. And they were fun to be around.
Ther does seem to be a number of them here in Key West.
Yep, I very well may have been considered as one also.
One buddy's mother, back in the day, refered to me as "that little creep with glasses". LOL!
How far off is that? I wear contacts now!
I never heard of the phrases Crud Bum or Crum Bum before this thread, but I think I get the picture.
I looked pretty reputable in my teens, but was actually a wild little thing that was into drugs, sex & rock n roll. And 'more.' Whatever it was, if it was fun, I wanted more. Does that count?
This is how I would've turned out if I hadn't stopped my craziness at such a young age...
...fortunately I turned out more like this-
lol! I quit watching TV a couple years ago. I'm not starting back for something akin to that pic up there ^^^. ;-p
I did plug a TV in at my place after d-man moved down several months ago, but it's only on when he's watching The News Hour on PBS. I've lost my interest in TV. Which is quite strange to me, considering I was an avid TV watcher for most of my life. I just gave it up & never got back into it.
