Any Recipes You'd Like to Share from Your Thanksgiving Dinner? Or New Title: Got Any Holiday Recipes You'd Like to Share?

No exaggeration - this was the best Thanksgiving meal I've ever eaten. It was delicious.
d'man did this marvelous turkey that had a tasty, crisp skin & was so moist & tasty on the inside. And the stuffing was the best stuffing I ever made. Maybe we can collect a selection of recipes here for future holiday cooking.

too bad we're not in the same town, baf... I've just pulled a package of seasoned risotto out of the pantry that I'm looking to pass on to someone. I can't cook it for myself b/c it contains gluten. :-(

Recipe... I made
Potatoes Au Gratin
last night that were scrumptious!

Ingredients

4 medium potatoes, peeled & thinly sliced
1/2 medium yellow onion thinly sliced
1 C. Half & Half
1/2 C. Chicken Broth
3 T. Butter + more for buttering the casserole dish
3 T. Flour
1 1/2 cups of grated cheese
Seasonings:
Garlic Salt
Tony Cachere's
McCormick's Mediterranean Sea Salt Seasoning
freshly ground black pepper

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
Butter casserole dish. Layer half the potatoes & top w/all of the sliced onions. Add sparse amounts of Garlic Salt, Tony Cachere's & black pepper.
Make roux w/butter & flour. Slowly add half & half while whisking, then add chicken broth the same way.
Sprinkle lightly w/McCormick's Mediterranean seasoning. Add cheese. When cheese is somewhat melted pour half the mixture on top of the onions & potatoes.
Add the other half of the potatoes & pour the remaining sauce on top.
Season lightly w/McCormick's seasoning & black pepper.
Bake covered for 1 hour, then uncovered for 15 minutes.

It's better if you bake it ahead by a few hours or a day ahead & reheat before serving.
Well, I don't have any recipes to share for any holidays......basically I just sleeze meals from friends and family.

However, yesterday I visited a bake sale fundraiser, and they had an item I'd never tried. I bought a bag of it, and it was very, very good, so I'll share that with you.

This was a simple chex mix, with red and green M & Ms added, and a few small pretzels, and then coated with a very thin layer of white chocolate. Yum-Yum!
I tried this recipe for apple crisp on Thanksgiving. Everyone loved it, but it took longer than the one hour to set up the "crisp". I think next time I may try it at 350 instead of 300 degrees.

Filling

6 large apples, peeled, coarsely chopped (I used Granny Smith)
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
3 or 4 teaspoons ground cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup cold butter or margarine, cut into small pieces

Topping

1 pouch (1 lb 1.5 oz) Betty Crocker® oatmeal cookie mix
3/4 cup butter or margarine, melted
1/2 cup chopped pecans

Heat oven to 300°F. Spray bottom and sides of 9 X 13 glass baking dish with cooking spray.

In large bowl, toss filling ingredients to evenly coat apples. Spread mixture in baking dish.

In same large bowl, stir cookie mix, pecans, and melted butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over filling.

Bake 1 hour minutes, or until topping is golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.
Sounds fabulous, Tee... thanks!
This is easy easy!! Hardest part is peeling some apples, and it is very tasty. Enjoy!!!!!

Made this tonight, TeeBub, only we used pears instead of apples. It was TeeBubbaDEElish!! '-)

Another very easy dessert that is a hit everytime I make it.

Cranberry Jello Salad

1 large box Rasberry Jello
1 cup gingerale
1 can crushed pineapple
1 can whole cranberries
1 cup chopped pecans

Drain pineapple, but reserve the juice.
Add enough water to juice to make 1 cup.
Bring juice/water mixture to a boil.
Add jello and reduce heat, and add gingerale, pineapple, cranberries, and nuts.
Stir until thickened.
Pour in baking dish and refrigerate until jello is set.
Enjoy!!!
I JUST thought of this congealed salad the other day, TeeBub! Thanks for the recipe, I think I'll make it for Christmas.

Spent an hour looking for a Jello recipe...shoulda called Tbub....

Sounds delicious, TeeBubbaDee!
My grandmother used to make a cranberry jello sort of like that, Tee, but she used walnuts, being from the north as we are. I think she had a recipe for every flavor Jell-o made. You're making me nostalgic.
