.......or do you get distracted and spend twice as much as you expected?

I needed a small jar of nutmeg a few weeks ago and after stopping at Target and another small store with no success the only place left was WalMart.*shudder* I went in, got my nutmeg and as I was checking out the lady cashier smiled and said, "Only a man could come into Walmart and buy one item!.

So, can you stick to the list and avoid the pitfalls of wandering up and down the rows of goodies?

Do it all the time. I can run in, buy that one item I need, and zoom, I'm gone.

I'm more interested in the social researcher who conclusively proved the REAL difference between the ways that men and women shop - That a man will pay twice what an object is worth if he really needs it, while women will buy something they don't need or even want - If it's on sale.
Looks like you forgot your milk, apples, eggs, toilet rolls, bananas and bread.
No, Bob, I normally come out of the store with the items on the list plus a few more things. Today was the first time in a long time that George and I went to the grocery store and bought the listed items only.
I think it depends on how deprived I've been feeling (of good things to eat and time). If I'm having time-deprivation, I can quickly go into a store and pick up what I need. If I'm having a fun-things-to-eat-deprivation, I can't stay away from the snacks.
I would stick to the list if I remembered to bring it.
Depends on the store...Target? Nope.
Any place that sells shoes? Nope.

Grocer? Usually. If it's my every other week trip I may buy things not on the list--like something that's on sale. Last week the store had "buy one, get one free" boneless pork loin. But, if it's a short trip, I'm in and out quickly.
I succumbed to the bacon today. It wasn't on my list but I'd forgot to add it in the first place. Does that count? Usually I'm going in for only the list items. Wifey hates it when I go to the grocery store. I go for the bargains as opposed to the usual fare. That's backfired on even me. No more generic toothpaste.
Hell no, I do free-form shopping. On the rare chance I make a list, I invariably leave it on the kitchen counter when I go shopping. I have to go to the grocery store at least five times a week, to feed just me. Most of the time I also forget and leave my cloth bags in the car, so I can accumulate even more plastic and paper bags. I usually have several more items than I came in to buy, by the time I leave the store.
You are so unbelievably normal Stir....no matter what anybody says....:-D
Why thank you, Jaylee.....don't even get me started on when they're having a sale on Hamburger Helper!
