......stop sign, that is.

Who goes first, the on on the left or right. Do you wave 'em through or just close your eyes and plunge in.

In Texas the one with the biggest, most intimidating vehicle goes first.

I first learned to drive in California (I know, I know. But I got my license in WA, so I'm a good driver.) where, I remember, the rule is first one there goes first, or in case of a tie, the car on your right goes first. It gets complicated if you all arrive at once. I think it's the same pretty much everywhere, isn't it?

Most often here we have roundabouts, very handy, if a little dizzying. Priority is always to the car on the right, so you have to be careful in case of unmarked intersections on city streets, where they may come barreling out with a great sense of entitlement. You learn quickly which neighborhoods are risky.
I really dislike roundabouts, or as we call them here, "traffic circles." I thought I never would get off the first one I encountered....went around it 3 times....
Sounds like a disorienting experience, Bob.
That's my understanding of the way it works, or should work, Chez; yieild to right when in doubt.
I've noticed some fancy variations around these parts, though.
Like barrel on through with the car in front of you before anyone can hit you.
Or just barrel on through no matter the order.
Sometimes it's quite exciting!
Definition of a traffic jam in Michigan....4 way stop.
Three ways are more common around here.
The men are usually in more of a hurry than me, so I yield to them and then take my time after they're gone.
Heh heh heh.
What??
:-D :-D :-D Yeah, me too.
The tie goes to the person on the right but I don't think too many realize that anymore.

The thing to do is when you see it's going to be close you stop early so you can go first or... slow down and make it look like they stopped first. Then when they sit there and don't go you can roll your eyes and mutter "Come on, buddy." If that telepathic attempt doesn't work wave them on.
