TBD on Ning

Okay...true confession...I am a Food Network addict...my day is not complete without watching some recipe show...   I'm rather fond of  "Chopped" so here you go....

This is sort of a game....I'll give you three ingredients....you give me a recipe....Mind you, you  have a full range pantry to add to the meal....You just have to use the initial three ingredients to some measure.
Then it's your turn...suggest three for the next person to make something...edible...not stinky or gross.  Something in the realm of possibility.

My turn:
Rice Krispie cereal
Halibut  (fish)
Dried cranberries....

Green olives
Tuna
Eggs

Stuffed eggs

8 large eggs
7 oz canned tuna
10 Olives
Mayonnaise

1. Hard boil the eggs
2. Combine the tuna and chopped olives
3. Shell the eggs, cut in halve lengthwise.

5. Stuff eggs and serve.

New:

Mushrooms
Spinach
Cream Cheese
Spanakopita.....
Ingredients

* 1/2 cup vegetable oil
* 2 large onions, chopped
* 2 (10 ounce) packages frozen chopped spinach - thawed, drained and squeezed dry
* 2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill
* 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
* 2 (4 ounce) packages feta cheese, crumbled (possibly a speadable herb cream will do)
* 4 eggs, lightly beaten
* salt and pepper to taste
* 1 1/2 (16 ounce) packages phyllo dough
* 3/4 pound butter, melted

Directions

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Heat vegetable oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Slowly cook and stir onions until softened. Mix in spinach, dill and flour. Cook approximately 10 minutes, or until most of the moisture has been absorbed. Remove from heat. Mix in feta cheese, eggs, salt and pepper.
3. Separate one sheet of phyllo from the stack and evenly brush with a light coating of butter. Place another sheet of phyllo over the butter and press the two sheets together. Cut the layered phyllo dough into long strips about 3 inches wide. Keep the remaining phyllo covered with plastic wrap to keep it from drying out.
4. Lay out one strip of phyllo at a time on your work surface with one of the narrow ends close to you. Place a heaping tablespoon of filling 1 inch from the end closest to you. Fold the bottom right corner over the filling to the left edge to form a triangle. Fold the triangle up, bringing the point at the bottom left up to rest along the left edge. Turn the lower left corner over to touch the right edge. Continue turning the triangle over in this manner until you reach the end of the phyllo. Repeat with the remaining filling and phyllo dough.
5. Place filled phyllo dough triangles on a large baking sheet and brush with the remaining butter. Bake in the preheated oven until golden brown, 45 minutes to 1 hour.

I'll bet there is a substitute in here somewhere.....Costco or Pillsbury cresent rolls I'm sure!!!
next:
Bacon
chicken
dried cherries
Here's my suggestion.....stuff the chicken with the cherries, leave out a few for later, wrap the chicken with the bacon, place in a pre-heated oven at 350 degrees and bake 3 hours or till crusty on the outside.
Now spread the remaining cherries on top of a cheese cake for desert.

Ground meat

salsa

chips
Okay, off the top of my head, how about a Mexican 'crumble':

Slice up a zucchini, a red and a green pepper (plus eggplant, potato, or whatever you like) and toss with olive oil and salsa. Crumble chips in a plastic bag. Quickly loose fry the meat with a chopped onion, salt, pepper and oregano and and layer in a baking pan as follows:
Chips (3/4)
Veg
Meat
Chips (1/4)
Salsa as needed to moisten
Top with grated cheese* halfway through the baking time, approx 30 - 40 min @ 450°.

Serve with a green salad.

*I am remembering a crumbly queso fresco I ate in Mexico years ago, but over here I would use a grated manchego; whatever you like best will do.
Might fix this....maybe....
Next three ingredients if you please. Or must I suffer through another night of chips and cheese or Lean Cuisine....:-(
PB & J is always my fall back...
Hey, that's my fall-back, too! My husband said he and his Italian college roomie basically lived on garlic, spaghetti and olive oil for a whole school year, and he still loved it to the end.
grilled w/bananas and some walnuts....!

"night dear Quinn...so glad you are here....
My "fall back" is a flour tortilla, shredded cheese and pickled Jalapeno peppers....heated in a microwave.
Oh, sorry, I forgot to do my part. How about, hmmm...

red peppers
roast chicken leftovers
pine nuts
aaaaaaah...Carbonara.
Throw some Pecorino on top and YUM.

Cabbage
Sausage
Navy Beans
