TBD

TBD on Ning

My name is Amy.
I have been a member of this sight for welll over a year now.  I was brought here by another member, who it turns out, was not the person that he claimed to be and who abandoned communications with me shoortly after discovering that I am a stroke survivor who has no money or anything else to offer him.
Due to partial parallysis on my right side, I neither speak nor type welll.  I am doing physical therapy to assist with both, but the progress is slow.  It was never my intention to jooin a social networking sight or to indulge in chat or discussion.  I do read though.  I have found interesting discussioons mostly from past times in the groups on this sight.  I've discovered groups where gay people can speak openly and freely, I've read heated political and relligious discussions, I've learned how asparagus can be planted for privacy and am trying now to relearn (with no smalll dificulty) a previous love of mine, knitting, by coopying a pattern I found in one of the groups here.
I had looked at the chat box occasionallly (my computer makes an interesting pinging when people are chatting) I attempted the other evening to chat with a member , who was very nice, but I sooon learned that my presents here was resented by other members.  Yesterday I discovered a grooup where my name was mentioned in a very derogatory way.
So to all who find my presents here disquieting or uncomfortable, I'm very sorry.  I had no idea that I was having this affect on others.
I'm still adjusting to my new state and to the new way in which the rest of the world sees me.
Please have patients.

Dont ask those mean people for patients.....ask them for presents.....IT will be nice to get a present from them now befor they end up a patient themselves. I got the most beautiful white fluffy cap for winter which had a pretty pink & purple border yesterday......A present from a cancer survivor who gives them to other survivors, patients, & workers........As soon as I feel a little more energy come my way I want to make some Origami swans for the patients......Go for the people who  accept you the way you are & get some presents....:)

It appears you have adapted quite well to the site. Deflect any negative energy directed at you, by yielding in this manner you overcome the nettlesome members.

Amy, I guess everything I would say, has already been said by some of TBD's finest.

PS. I would be willing to bet that everyone here has had there toes stepped on at least once. Sometimes you just have to imagine steel toed boots. Don't get discouraged.

I echo what the others have written here, Amy. Welcome. I encourage you to post & interact in the threads & groups that interest you. I think you'll find a warm, friendly community here. I'm glad you wrote this blog & gave people a chance to learn about your experience here & respond. I hope you'll hang in & discover an enjoyable social outlet here at TBD on Ning.

Sorry you got flamed early on...It's one of the hazards of the anonymous nature of the internet.  Don't let a bad first experience allow yourself to get discouraged.

Stick around - We're a pretty friendly bunch. Although, as Katherine said, watch out for Robbie - He's got a motor home, and he knows how to use it.

Not one of us really know what world exists for the person on the other side of our monitors.  You are brave and honest in your text here.

Please don't feel put out by posting here.  TBD can be home for many reasons.

Sometimes the "send" button gets hit before it can be stopped from reaching the wall...!

Stick around...let yourself be known....it'll be a good thing.

Amy, None of us can be responsible for what others post on the site. I am sorry that you have had such a negitive experience here. I hope that over the past year you have come to think that most on here are pretty nice people. My advice, as a long time member is; try to ignore the few bad apples ,  and post and interact with the humorious, fun loving groups.
