At the beach

I sit in soulful silence
by the shore listening
to the cadence of the waves

My toes digging
into a sandy dune
white foam tendrils
caressing their tips.

A tiny crab scuttles
by stopping briefly
to sniff curiously
at a bit of flotsam
making me smile
at its myopic antic.
Finding nothing worthwhile
it moves right along until it
disappears into the sand

I am at peace.
