We're starting on a second adoption
So soon? Is that wise?
- but they didn't know
you were waiting for us...
This time we want a boy
Girls are easier to raise
- but they didn't know
you were waiting for us...
We want a toddler
It's better to adopt an infant
- but they didn't know
you were waiting for us...

The Food Safety Enhancement Act of 2009 (FSEA) is a poorly written bill, now before the US House of Representatives. Known as the Waxman-Dingell bill, it really isn't much about food safety at all. Previous food safety issues in the news were centered around large agri-corporations, but this bill places its harshest burdens on small food and supplement producers. New language is introduced along with criminal and civil penalties, including up to 10 years of jail time and fines up to $100,000… Continue

I was in a Lisztian mood last night. I watched a DVD of Franz Liszt's "A Faust Symphony," performed by the Boston Symphony, conducted by Leonard Bernstein. The performance was recorded in about 1977. Some consider this symphony to be Liszt's masterpiece. It surely contains one of the most colorful families of leitmotifs in the orchestral repertoire. In fact, each character in Goethe's play is so vividly depicted that you might not be remiss in calling it an opera without words Leonard Bernstein… Continue

OK, so I have an appointment with my new psychiatrist this afternoon. He's from Somalia. I hope he's not a pirate. I've been seeing psychiatrists since 1977--can you believe that? Readers of my posts may wonder what I gain by seeing a psychiatrist. I'm on the fringe, mentally speaking.
Last night at about 3:00 a.m. my neighbors in 135--speaking euphemistically--got frisky. Very frisky. They live across the hall. But I could still hear their antics through their door, across the hall,… Continue

Did you ever look into someones eyes and begin to wonder if you had seen them once before, another time in which you had loved them many times over in a different place and time?I had wondered about that sometime ago as we met just the other day,for you turned to ask me a question as if i was hearing it in a strange language, but as i look to see you, and my eyes meet yours all words are lost in wonder. Why me?There are others around to help you ponder on your question. This is the story of Max the tree,a tree that is so wonderious and giving that I had to give it a name, but instead when I become upset I start to see thing differently.I had wish Max the tree was with me today to help me feel safe and secure for Max is a tree so old and wise and arms that reach from one horizen to another,to form a perfect circle to hide and protect one who seeks it.I wish I was a sturdy and strong as he for Max must be as old as time its self able to stand alone and strong… Continue

Not one day in anyone's life is an uneventful day, no day without profound meaning, no matter how dull and boring it might seem,no matter whether you are a letter carrier or a queen, a shoeshine boy or a movie star, a renowed philospher or a downs syndrome child.Because in every day of your life, there are opportunities to perform little kidnesses for others, both by concious acts of will and unconscious examples. Each smallest act of kindness even just words of hope when they are needed, the… Continue

Hi there its been sometime since I sat a wrote one of my wonderful blogs. The reason I write them when I do is to help me think through my life and to see it in words instead of through actions.I was out shooting some rolls of film trying to remember why I love being out doors so much when I began to feel so alone.I was walking among the Lilacas, and cherry blossoms, the smell was a mixture of both sweet and strange. The wind was blowing as lightly as a whisper when I was returning to a time of my… Continue

I just got today's hairy thought: Chat has, as all chats do, devolved into a dullard's grind of "how's the weather" and "hi" and "where do you live?", yada yada yada. No thought allowed zone.
Fine, but why not try to infiltrate neuronic activity into the zone? I commit myself to inserting a non-sequiter at least once a day into the chat. Something meaningless, trivial, pointless - another words, miles above whatever's going on in the chat zone.
I, as the arbiter of… Continue

In a book "The Moral Society: A Rational Alternative to Death," John David Garcia presents a revolutionary ethical theory much in the spirit of Spinoza. The author shows that through the ethical development of art, science and technology man can achieve far more than the advocates of supernatural Utopias ever imagined.
What is the "Game of Life?" According to the author it is a game in which we are the pieces as well as the players. It is a game in which the stakes are… Continue

So, I'm taking a day of R and R today, and I thought I'd try out this 'blog' stuff that all the hip kids go on about. I'm still relatively new to this TBD thing (7 weeks, I think...), and while the demise of the old site hit me a lot harder than I thought it would, I came to the new site with fervor. Being relatively new, I missed out on the birthing pains that a lot of the veterans went through, but frankly, I wouldn't have cared one iota if the new site would have been nothing more than… Continue

We as a nation have seen War's , Natural Disaster's and Disease's Poverty, plagues our people and there does not seem to be any end in sight. It's time to act and stand strong and allow the future generation's to see that we are not this selfless group of people that left behind a mess that is so destructive and ugly . Make… Continue
