My Little Medical Adventure. Or "Not On The Road Again".

I'm sitting here waiting for time to pass. I have an appointment at the University of Texas Medical Branch in two hours.

The appointment is for a stress test. I can't eat or drink anything for 3 hours prior. Funny how easy it is to go without eating or drinking during a normal, routine day. But tell me I can't, and all at once I want to very badly.

Last Fri. night I was, as usual, sitting at my computer, merrilly typing away, while eating candy covered almonds and…

ON THE ROAD AGAIN 23

Wow! It's been a while. I left Tampa, Florida on the 16 th of March. Even though my right front brake had overheated on the way into MacDill AFB, the dealer found nothing wrong during the tear down and inspection. So he cleaned it up, lubrcated the calipers and put it back together.

That evening while checking tire pressure prior to starting the trip, I discovered that one of my rear tires had deflated down to 40 psi. It should have been 100 psi. So Tue morning it was off to a tire…

Passing Time

On Monday morning I was on a plane returning home from San José, California to Phoenix, Arizona. Sitting next to me on the plane was a young woman of about age 20 or so. My guess is that she was a college student. I brought along a paperback book to read to pass the time of the 2-hour flight. As soon as she sat down, she started texting furiously on her cell phone until the announcement came over the P.A. system to turn off all mobile communication devices. Once we were in the air, the first… Continue

POLITICAL PARTY COMPOSED OF THE RADICAL CENTER!

Today I read an editoral written by Thomas Friedman. It was titled "This country Needs a Tea Party of the Radical Center".

It was in the Houston Chronicle. Friedman is a columnist for "The New York Times".

In this column he discusses how our current form of government has been taken over by the extremists on both sides of the political spectrum. He thinks that our political system of only two major parties has allowed that, and that it is only going to get worse. The…

Loss of my wife

It is with a heavy heart that I tell you all of the loss of my wife on March 15th 2010. She had been ill with Pulmonary Fibrosis for almost three years and was on oxygen 24/7. Recently the fluid build up in her body was so severe that fluid began leaking from her legs. It was that fluid build up along with the problems breathing that eventually lead to her death.

She had courageously fought the disease and seemed to be progressing when the fluid problems arose. People have been so…

Do I Expect Too Much From My Therapist?

I see a psychotherapist once a week. I've been thinking about cutting down the sessions to once every two weeks, or even once a month. There is no magic in our sessions. I attach no feeling of specialness to our interaction. Psychotherapy should be magical, it should be special. Special in the sense that one feels sensations that are not experienced in the mundane world. One should feel some connection to one's… Continue
