Are you a fan of "Pulp Fiction"? "Kill Bill"? "Death Proof"? "Reservoir Dogs"?
Good. Don't read this blog.
Because I've had enough after hearing about "Inglourious Basterds" which I'm refusing to see.
Have we become so insensitive and isolated as a society that violence as a humorous diversion is acceptable?
Well, not for me. Violence in entertainment bothers me. And while critics, many moviegoers and marketers poo poo it, there is enough people out there like me who…

Most seasonal flu vaccines contain dangerous levels of mercury in the form of thimerosal, a deadly preservative that is 50 times more toxic than regular mercury. Most of the swine flu vaccines will also contain thimerosal, although they will reportedly make a limited number of doses available that are thimerosal-free (meaning 1 mcg or less).
If taken in high enough doses, thimerosal can result in long-term immune, sensory, neurological, motor, and behavioral…

Remember that game we used to play in past TBD? It was the Question list. People would stuff silly questions out like "What's your favorite color?" It took me a while to figure it out.
Actually I don't have too much against the Doc, except that she's annoying and single-minded.
I just was remembering old TBD, wondering if they still did that.

Hey, its me, Gary Young! You know, the smart alecky guy who was gonna go out west??? I thought I might try doing one of these blog thingies about my trip to Yellowstone Park and back.
So who is Stir? Well, that's been my nickname since I was in high school. I was originally called "Youngster" by one of my friends, I guess because I only looked about 12 years old when I was a Junior. As time went on, "Youngster" got shortened to…

My new futon arrived this morning. My generous sister bought it for me as a gift. Maybe now I'll get a good night's sleep.

I'm ornery today. I'm anti-semitic, a fascist, a gun-toter, a liberal basher, a death panelist, a right to choice, anti-partial birthist, pro-war, anti-arab, misogynist, misanthropist, nihlist, reactionary, revolutionary, you name it.
I just can't be counted to agree on anything today. I'm anti-lung today, too. Smoke em if you got em.

I have a Facebook friend who asked me for an argument to rebut Rebublican claims that "the government screws up everything it gets involved in." Here's what I wrote in response:
There's nothing you can say to a Republican to convince him or her of anything. I wouldn't try. My father used to say, "Never argue with a Communist. You'll never win. They have a prefabricated argument to rebut anything you say." I think the best argument against Communism is the Soviet regime in Russia,…

Sorry folks but I do not think anyone of us has the right to carry a loaded weapon anywhere near a president. The president has not threatened to take anyones guns away, so saying you are carrying it because it is a right you STILL have implies you think you might not have it for long.
A riffle has a two mile range, and I don't think these gun toters were that far from the president. THIS IS SOME CRAZINESS. These same people will be the ones complaining when after some DOES get hurt…

Saturday, August 15th, was the anniversary of the death of America's most beloved political satirist, Will Rogers. Rogers, who's most famous quote, "I never met a man I didn't like," perished in a plane crash with his aviator, Wiley Post. How much do you want to bet Rogers was choking Post on the way down saying, "You son of a bitch, I’m gonna die because you were too cheap to fill it up?"
I never bought that famous sentiment of his. How could you go your whole life without disliking…

And while we spoke of many things, fools and kings, this he said to me: 'The greatest thing you'll ever learn is just to love, and be loved in return.'
Eden Ahbez, 1908-1995
American Musician, Songwriter and Poet
With an anguish only the greatest romantic can know, I have loved without love being returned, but have been left with with its lesser kin, to be liked in an abundance, has been returned while faun's and naked fairies danced at my feet and those…

August 7th fell on a Friday this year. I can recall that August 7th also fell on a Friday in the year 1998, 11 years ago. Back in the day I was a danger to society. Yes, I was a very dangerous man.
On the evening of Thursday August 6, 1998 two Special Agents of the US Capitol Police (Threat Investigation Unit) forcibly entered my home, after frisking me for weapons, and proceeded to interrogate me about an allegation made by a DC employee that, earlier in the day, at the height of an…

August 7th fell on a Friday this year. It occured to me that August 7th also fell on a Friday in the year 1987, 22 years ago. I began to reminisce about Friday August 7, 1987. At that time I worked at Chief Justice Roberts' old law firm, Hogan and Hartson, in Washington, DC. I worked in the Computer Applications Department.
Craig W. Dye, a coworker and fair-weather friend, left for a Miami vacation on Friday afternoon August 7, 1987. That morning I gave Craig a copy of a book of…

Are you looking for the logical fallacy in the statement "the government screws up everything it gets involved in?"
The logical fallacy is that there are major screw ups in the private sector. Look at the banking crisis. Lehman Brothers was privately owned. It no longer exists because of faulty investment practices. Lehman Brothers was a case of private capitalists screwing up everything without any intervention by the government. How do conservatives explain that? What about the…

I look at my days now with new eyes and try to describe them to you. But I know that they seem strange sometimes to the lonely and lost. Many do not believe I was once angsting and aching in a lonely room, a lonely college dorm, a lonely classroom, a lonely home. I was angry and confused and desperate for love.
I'm curious about those who struggle now with the same pain I once struggled with. What words could I say that would ease their pain? Do they want it eased?
The…

Save A Place For Me
When you risk the climb
To the majestic mountain top
And sit gazing at the snow covered peaks
Embracing the stillness around you
Surrounding your soul with beauty
Breathing in the freshness of pine scented air
When you do this
Please
Save a place for me
A place beside you
A place inside your heart
When you quest
For the bright orange moon
Slowing creeping up beyond naked trees
Light…

I have just come across this this past week, and am moved to share it with all I come across, not to insult anyone by any means, but to share with those who could use a little help through what has been difficult economic times for a great many people across the nation, Even those on food stamps or other means of assist can benefit, and there is no income limit so all can participate who choose to. If you are currently without economic challenges...perhaps reading this you will be moved to help…
