Chosen Sunflowers

In the south of France

Actually the city of Arles

Vincent eagerly awaits

The models he had hired

But they failed to show.

Perhaps the fierce hot

Wind outside detained them

From their appointed tasks

To keep their appointment

With this future master.

Vincent, improvising all his life,

Walked outside into the wind

Gathered up Sunflowers

Alongside the side of the shed

Housing many earthenware pots.

Back into his humble home

With the creative mixing

Of his few meager paints

He created vibrant colors,

With painstaking patience

Emerged beautiful yellow shades,

Each center a different color tone

Making every seed defined.

This is how a few Sunflowers

Become a beloved painting.

Diminutive Silent Echo

You, Silent Echo of mine, usually do not make a lot of noise

like that quiet little mouse in the corner sneaking

along the baseboard quietly unseen making no utterance

at times almost speechless like a feather in the wind

But when you talk, people usually are often listening to your constant chattering. You are babbling, oh the garrulous speaking that can be quite annoying tending to talk with

to much rolling freely as a twisting babbling brook on and on

You have a quiet wisdom about you that people respect and admire. The imagination runs rampant with the wildest stories

pulling your mysterious natural thoughts drawing people in like the repetition of a noise caused by reflection of sound waves

Silent Echo you draw them close to you believing all you say

is true and real akin to the reflection of transmitted radar signals by an object! You, Silent Echo are unique in yourself

being a spirited carefree little imp in the woods.

Today,
I am neither Democrat nor Republican,
Neither left nor right nor center.
I am an American,
Born to a legacy of truth and justice,
Born to a legacy of freedom and equality.
Today, I am a patriot
Who will not yield this nation to hate.
Not to neo-Nazis.
Not to thugs self-styled as militia.
Not to slogans or chants.
Not to gestures or flags.
Not to threats and not to violence.
Hate is hate,
Ugly and brutal,
And we will not yield.
Today,
I am Christian, Muslim and Jew,
Catholic, Buddist, Hindu and Sikh,
Atheist and agnostic.
I am Asian, Latino, Hispanic, African American,
White, Native American and multi-racial.
I am an immigrant, a child of the American Revolution,
A veteran and a soldier.
I work in the dark depth of the mines
And the high towers of Wall Street,
In the factories and the farms,
In our hospitals and strip malls.
I am gay, lesbian, straight, bi, trans,
Man, woman and gender-neutral.
I am young, old, blind and deaf,
Hearing and sighted,
Disabled,
Powerful and unafraid.
Truth is truth,
That all are created equal,
And we will not yield.
Today, I am an American,
A citizen of the United States,
A child of this great democracy,
A child of this wise republic,
Dedicated to liberty,
Dedicated to action.

A Journey of my Little Life
I am great grandma of eight
My brother and sisters are gone
Along with my  dear loving parents
I have also outlived two husbands
All is well and I continue to float
Down the stream like a dry cow pie
Going in whatever direction
The flow takes me stopping once
In a while to climb the bank and
Observe people places and things
Then float on down to another
Adventure where life sends me

The night Before Thanksgiving

T'was the night before Thanksgiving
We stepped outside for a breath of air
The sky was full of vibrant colors
and the wind had settled down
so the people could celebrate and give thanks

Has anyone been writing?

I write something every day.

When I review what I wrote in the past I laugh at the errors.
