As to the acts of the court, taking the two cases is an important step in recognizing the issue, as to the decisions that will be rendered, if they decide to decide that will create some sort of resolution, either to be formulated as the right of states to decide on the definition of marriage or, that marriage is a civil right protected under the equal protection of the federal law.  They could also decided not to decide and remand the issue back to the lower courts.

Whatever happens, what the Court will do is move the issue further down the line to some sort of resolution but may not decide it.  

A lost for either side, there remains a push for a constitutional amendment, for or against, which will further split the people.  In the end, it isn't what people feel about single sex marriage, it is what they will accept and that is changing every day.

In the way of presidential electoin yaers the absence of debate reguarding hot pototes Gay marrage and Climate Change the silence was daefining. This is normal politics to me... Yet it is The Big Enchalata for me as a Gay American.

Now both subjects are "coming uot of the closet" again. The supreme cuort is not amune to changeing public opinion, tho they do not have to be concerned with loosing there job with lifetime apiontments. At this piont 73% of 18-30 yaer olds support Gay marrige..a huge figure who wil come into there full voice in the next 10-15 yaers.

I ges that i will cut to the chase. IMO with Defence of Marrige and Prop 8 in California. The Supreme Court wil throw us a small bone and just lay the gruondwork for Gays to Marry in 10-15 yaers.

My beloved wil have died and I wil be 71 yaers old. Assumeing i live that long , I wil have ben a Political Activist fighting for full and equal rights under the law for 56 yaers. DANG if I got mrried my spouse and I cuold file a joint federal income tax return!
