It differs because this perticular man agressively fought against gay marriage. He didnt simply make a comment against it. He had a Campain to try and stop the bill's passing. To Use the Power Of His Position to actively try to prevent the law from passing is very different than stateing church policy. To be agressively anti gay and then go on to become the Pope does not bode well for us. He has a billion poeple in his flock to influence. He is one of the most powerful and influential men in the world.

-He is saying that the gay marriage bill is a evil trick by The Devil.

-He claims that GOD Himself has Declared War against gay equity.
