oh yeah sure this makes sense.....guns don't kill people, strippers kill people?

so to safeguard the public, strippers need to take classes and be licensed....but let's cut the classtime down to 4 hours for a concealed weapons permit...guess that makes sense...no telling when a stripper might whip out a tittie and destroy your morals

Texas lawmaker wants strippers to wear licenses

A new bill would require dancers to get a license and 'conspicuously display' it while on the job.

Credit: ZUMA Wire Service/Alamy Caption: Dancer at Strip ClubTexas lawmakers are cracking down on strip clubs. State Rep. Bill Zedler has authored a bill requiring exotic dancers to get a license -- and wear the document while performing.

Asking strippers to get licensed is nothing new. Several cities in America already have that requirement. But Zedler is getting attention for his suggestion that the dancers "conspicuously display" the license -- with their real names on it -- while working.

Zedler, a conservative Republican, thinks it might deter women from choosing the profession. "They won't want to get a license as a stripper from the state of Texas," he said, according to the Star-Telegram. "I think it would keep a lot of girls from getting involved in that lifestyle and basically wrecking their lives."

In order to get the license, strippers would need to be at least 18 years old and take a class about human trafficking awareness and reporting. The license will not be given to anyone previously convicted for human trafficking, prostitution, public lewdness or possession of child pornography.

The bill raises some questions. Is it safe for a dancer to display her real name on the license? Zedler admitted that this could be an issue, and said he would be in favor of a "magnetic cover" on the license that would hide the name, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Riiiight. So where exactly would a dancer display a license and magnetic cover? Zedler has an answer for that one as well, saying that the dancer could wear a license around the neck, or on shoes, or attached to a head band.

"This will force everyone to clean up their act," he told the Star-Telegram. "Overall, it will be a benefit to everyone concerned."

It doesn't sound like Zedler's bill will get very far. State lawmakers have some bigger issues to tackle, like the economy, education and healthcare, one political science professor told the Star-Telegram.

"It may be overshadowed by other big conservative issues like school vouchers, education funding, Medicaid," Allan Saxe added. "However, it has been announced by some Republican leaders that this session will be very conservative, so this may be one 'side' issue that they may be willing to bring up and consider."

TX Representative proposes concealed handgun license changes

SHERMAN, TX -- The Texas legislature is back in session next week, and one hot topic will be gun laws. A state representative is proposing two bills that will impact Texas citizens who already have or are looking to get their concealed handgun licenses.

Right now, to get a Texas concealed handgun license you must go through a ten hour class, that teaches things like gun safety and Texas law. To renew that license, you must go through a four hour class. State Representative Dan Flynn wants to change those requirements completely.

House Bill 47 would cut the ten hour CHL class requirement down to four hours. If you want to renew your CHL, under House Bill 48 you would no longer need a four hour refresher course, you could just renew online.

The bills' author, State Representative Dan Flynn, says right now the class is just too long and CHL instructor Jason Webb agrees.

"With any kind of powerpoint presentation or any kind of presentation for ten hours does get lengthy no matter what you're covering," Webb said.

"As it is right now, you have to take a day off of work to be able to go do it. Or take a whole Saturday off. I think the big deal is more Texans will be able to make the class, go through the program with the background check and be able to carry," Rep. Flynn said.

Webb says his CHL classes are filling up. So, a shortened class time would allow him to accommodate more people, but he says there are drawbacks.

"Now on the other side too is there is a lot of law, a lot of responsibility that needs to be covered," Webb said.

A lot to be covered, so he worries his students won't be able to learn everything if it's crammed into four hours.Under the proposed bill, before you get your CHL, you still have to fire 50 rounds and pass a written exam. But some gun owners hope these bills are shot down.

"I think it's very important that we keep our level of training where it is so that we have the best qualified people carrying a concealed handgun," Frank Deater said.

"This is Texas and in Texas people are very familiar with handguns and shooting etiquecy, and the rules of government and the responsibilities that a gun owner has," Rep. Flynn said.

Legislative session resumes Tuesday, January 8. Representative Flynn says he believes he'll have a lot of support with both bills, because he says the majority of Texas lawmakers conceal carry.

Ayh, of course - The party that wants government out of people's lives is also in the business of deciding for women what kind of career they can have, as well as how much they're allowed to earn compared to men and whether or not they are allowed to control their own uteruses.

What's most disgusting about these assholes is not just their ridiculously bad ideas - It's that they're very probably utterly oblivious to their own hypocrisy.
