Any canned soup can be upgraded to a good meal with a little ingenuity. Beef or vegetable based soups work best. Just by adding cubes of cheese, sliced vegetables or diced ham to a can of soup and water, and you have a very filling meal. Add the cheese just before serving.

  • 1 can soup (vegetable or beef base)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup sliced vegetables (tomatoes, carrots)
  • 1/2 cup diced ham (optional)
  • 1/2 cup diced cheese (cheddar, Swiss, jack)

Some instant mashed potatoes can thicken a soup to a chowder consistency and make it more filling. Also. a good way to use up leftover vegetables.
