Martin Bell, 20, Frank Hudson, 19, and two unnamed 17-year-old despicable thugs pleaded guilty on Friday to the egregious torture of a family's pet rabbit on June 30 and posting the act on social media reports the Mirror.co.uk.

The disturbing story made international news as the horrific torture of Percy, a white lionhead rabbit owned by Rebecca Atkinson, was stolen from its rabbit hutch in Seaham, County Durham and brutally tortured. The two 17-year-old boys admitted on Friday they stole the rabbit. All four of the men pleaded guilty to animal cruelty for causing unnecessary suffering to an animal.

The shocking story began when the family found the rabbit they had just purchased three weeks earlier, missing from her hutch outside of the family home. It wasn't until later that someone notified the family of a rabbit which looked very much like Percy posted on Instagram.

The photograph and video showed three naked men in a bathtub holding the rabbit. What happened next was indescribably cruel, but the torture of the defenseless animal included shaving it, setting it on fire, attempting to drown it, and then throwing the suffering and still alive rabbit out of the window.

The family could not watch the video, but were shown screenshots of the video so they could identify Percy.

"To torture an animal in that way and throw it out of the window is inhumane. We can't stop thinking how much she would have suffered," stated Atkinson.

Percy had just given birth to five bunnies which the family tried to save, but all died.

A conference is now underway to prepare for sentencing on October 3 and October 6. Let's hope the punishment fits the crime.

i often wonder what goes thru people's heads when they do shit like this.. i agree that some serious councilin is in order here .. along with a very long probation period so the shrinks can give the judge the ok before they get released from probation ..jail time would be too quick and easy and they would disappear back into the woodwork once their time was done.. better if you keep an eye on their crazy psychopathic asses ..

Sick and disgusting is the best I can come up with...the indication is that these are three very disturbed young men, and there is no cure for that kind of illness.  They are a danger to society and should be locked away for a very long time.

the part that is so striking and terrible about this is that this is not unconscious unaware cruelty like being too stupid to know something is not right. this is premeditated, intentional, consciously aware cruelty of the first order. it could be that these people together make the perfect storm by multiplying the bad in each other to new levels. just my opinion but i'm not sure i see any of them as salvageable human beings. i've known some bad people in my life but most of them weren't intentionally 'evil'

well we can't be too quick to throw the baby out with the bathwater .. i'll be the first to agree there's somethin wrong with these critters ..but i think a properly trained shrink should do the evaluation .. and then if they deem them unfixable . give em a nice home .. in a maximum security institution ..
