the more things change .. the more they stay the same ..

this is from the early 80's but the idea is pretty much the same .. unrest in the middle east . so anybody think the war in iraq was a good idea ? anybody not see this civil war commin after we pulled our troops out ?? anybody think it was a good idea to remove sadamm hussein ?? or the war was a trillion dollars and more that was worth it ?? or that we're finally done with it all ??

With reference to this topic of the more things change...I posted this on Facebook last night:  Is anyone out there watching The Sixties tonight? It's about Vietnam. It is so disturbing especially in light of what is happening now. We put a man in office, he became a tyrant, the Buddhists rose up against him at the same time the VC and North Vietnam were starting to fight the south, we didn't know who to bomb, there was fear of the Muslim Caliphate taking over all the SouthEast Asia countries-(-no, not the caliphate, I just said that because it might as well have been,)--that communists would take over all the countries--so upsetting to see that the more things change, the more they stay the same.

you'd think we'd catch on sooner or later wouldn't ya .. but noooooo...

you wouldn't really think of these guys as protest song writers but i think this stands up next to anything dylan ever wrote ..i picked this cause it actually has the words .. played this song for years and still don't know all the words, but i knew enough to get the meanin of the song ..   and the guitars are great and you can dance to it so i give it a 10 dick .. and the vocals are perfect .. the bass is right where it should be .. and the drums kick ass .. and the scream that comes in at 7.45 is the best scream in rock history .. just can't be duplicated ..WON'T GET FOOLED AGAIN ..

its a shame but this movie never really saw the light of day for one reason or another .. looks like it would have been funny .. but the powers that be probably didn't think it was all that patriotic .. put em in a really bad light .. they made it in 2006 and released it in 2008 .. cost em 10 mil to make and they only made a half a mil back .. not a good roi at all .. but these were the kinds of movies that made me money in my video store ..

i just watched it again last night....very black comedy...picture things like tanks with decals like nascar cause after all, that's prime advertising space....you can view it in parts on youtube..there are two postings of it

this is part one in one posting. i am not sure this is a complete posting of all its parts

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiYYGF3wnqU

the other posting (which also has spanish subtitles and is a standard screen rather than widescreen)

I found the movie War, Inc.  taping it Wednesday night so that I can watch it. Thanks for the tip.

remember those are in parts on youtube. i checked mine out of the library...you can always request it thru your library and if they don't have it, ask them to do an ILL so you can watch it.

It's actually coming on TV on Wednesday, so I will be able to watch the whole thing.

i really wish he had followed his own advice....

I remember posting this video on Eons when we were getting involved and was told a person can change his mind in the face of an imminent threat.  Jeeeez.

viet nam taught us you can't save a country that won't save itself, a country where corruption is more important than patriotism. and after 23 billion dollars spent training and arming the iraqi military, as soon as a bunch of guys in suvs and pickups show up, the military drops their weapons, abandons their tanks, changes into civvies and runs for home. another example...syria....all the voices calling for us to arm the rebels fighting al-assad...which rebels?  and what keeps the rebels you do arm from passing those arms onto groups you don't want armed. al-assad may be a bad guy but is he a bad guy like hussein was, keeping a country from descending into total chaos?

oh and we appear to have armed the isis group recently...since we DID arm the iraqis

Beirut (AFP) - Jihadists fighting in Syria's war put to use for the first time on Sunday American-made Humvees that they seized during a lightning offensive in Iraq this month, a monitor said.

The Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, or ISIL, used the armoured vehicles to capture the villages of Eksar and Maalal in Aleppo province, which borders Turkey, said the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.

It came after heavy fighting against the Islamic Front and its Al-Qaeda-affiliated ally, the Al-Nusra Front, said the Observatory, a Britain-based group that gets its information from a network of sources on the ground.

i thought an interview of marco rubio this morning was a good illustration of our country politically right now. he was carrying on about president obama and what obama was or was not doing in iraq and syria. when o'donnell asked him what he would do, he tried to sidestep the question and when pressed with the same question, he stuttered stammered and finally said we should cut off the flow of arms.  now that's a fine goal for someone whose party wants more weapons poured in for the rebels in syria. so what we have is people who don't know what to do but just know the other guys are doing it wrong

i'll take a clue for 200 alex
