ok .. about that new site ..

well we've all heard about it and some of us have even been there and checked it out .. but truth be told so far i'm pretty underwhelmed .. i wouldn't go so far as to compare it to the obama healthcare website but .. ehh what the hell .. yeah i will .. it has a long way to go before its as nice as this place is .. so in the interest of good faith and good wishes and all that kinda stuff i sent them an email about how they could improve the place .. just the basics mostly and this is what they said .. at least they answered me .. here's my words of advice ..

well just a heads up .. i think you have the right idea .. but your site is sorely lackin for the simple things .. check out the ning sites and see what they can do and you'll understand what i mean .. there's no way to post a pic or a link or a video in any of the responses .. no instant messenger .. and no private messenger .. no way to really gussy up your home page with pics or videos and if you knew how eons was then you'd know how important that is to some of those members .. now maybe you're workin on all that stuff and if you are i hope you get it all in place in time .. but if you don't this big rollout won't be all that different from the obama website if you get my drift ..  i hope this helps you .. frenchy

Hi frenchy - thanks for sending your feedback. Here's an update and some insight on where we are at:

Posting videos and photos in comments is under consideration.

Private messaging is in the near-term development schedule. Look for that in the coming week.

We will be adding the ability to add a custom image to your Profile. We don't have any plans to allow for complete customization of the profile page.

We are not attempting to be another Eons or Ning. So emulating every feature that those sites have simply doesn't make business sense. We very much hope that you will continue to send your feedback and we are taking all that's coming in into consideration. But we also need to remain true to Boomeon's unique plan and vision.

i'm not sure .. i know that laylatx lady said they hired her in one post to help out but when she came on board was probably not at the start .. if she was she probably woulda said somethin like i did .. i'm still waitin for a response to what their unique long range plan is ( other than to just go tits up in the middle of the day like eons did if they don't get their shit together ) in any event get contacts from anyone you missed now and invite em here before its too late .. i don't think their plan is to update the place much more than it is now .. and right now its sorely lackin .. and i'm sure a lot of people expected a lot more after they named their place boom eons .. eons was the place for boomers .. hmm .. ya think it was an accident they picked that name ?? i don't .. i think it was calculated ... but without any forethought beyond that ..

I've kept in touch with most folks I had relationships with...not as often as eons but between FB and TBD they are there. With the one TBD site going away and then this one...I know bunches of former eons folks went away...I think there was some nastiness and some misunderstandings..it was what it was.
I'm not nearly as invested with FB and TBD as I was with eons. It was the first and only social site I was a part of and it was fun to connect with folks this way. I've made some close friends as a result...but they are all scattered all over the place... I was always about meeting folks but many weren't. The traveling has been fun but I need to stay a bit closer to home right now.
Hard to say how this new site will do...no doubt they have some sort of business plan and agenda.

its called boomeons cal .. and it was started by some guy down here by me in bonita springs .. at first i thought he might have been an eons member too but now i'm startin to seriously doubt it .. i don't think he really has a clue what eons was like so his chances of success are slim .. unless he finds out what eons was like and tries to fix it .. i'm still waitin for an answer on what their unique vision is .. looks like that question might have stumped em .. cause they don't really have a unique vision .. they're vision is pretty much lets throw somethin at the wall and see what sticks .. nothin unique about that .. 

and vickie i'm not sure what you mean by the nastiness .. do you mean the people from eons who felt they were left high and dry ?? ehh.. maybe some of em were soreheads .. lets face it i can't remember the name of the lady who bought the site now but that lady .. well if she was losin money keepin eons runnin you couldn't expect her to keep doin that ..my only beef with her was why she didn't let us know and maybe some of us would have contributed to keep it open .. i'm pretty sure that some of the ones that cried the loudest were the very same ones who would cry bloody murder if eons wasn't free anymore either.. some things that you pay absolutely nothin for are worth just that .. you often get what you pay for .. now how much to pay and how many would pay is another issue and we'd come to that bridge when we crossed it .. but i'm sure some would step up .. some wouldn't .. then we'd see how much eons was worth to em ..

Callie...not a secret at all...it's been all over facebook and I know we did a post on it here...some folks even won a tablet I think.

Frenchy....the nastiness I was referring to was the first TBD site when all the eons folks showed up and some started complaining and some of the regular folks didn't appreciate it.. there was a dust up on some of the political groups and the sex groups..Many folks didn't migrate over to this TBD site.

I think the group that bought eons just didn't know what they were doing..they weren't prepared to run it. My opinion was it was a money thing.

oh yeah .. now that you mention it i remember now vickie.. some of the eons people coulda been better .. but there's always dustups in the political groups .. i don't mind ever talkin politics or religion with anybody so long as they understand that we might not always agree and if we don't it don't mean i don't like or respect you .. no reason why it has to get to that advanced nastiness stage .. yet it often does .. so on the one hand i hate it when someone tries to censor anything anyone has to say .. right or wrong .. but i also don't like to see it get nasty when it really don't need to .. its a fine line ..and for the most part we've managed to walk that line pretty good in here .. no bruises or broken bones .. we're pretty good in here .. but who was fightin about sex ?? now that i didn't see .. why were they fightin about sex ?? 

and you are absolutely right about the lady who bought eons .. and this guy who's doin boomeons too .. ithink in order to make a site like that work you have to be either all in or all out .. you can't go half assed into it .. after all who wants a half an ass , right ??

there was a group of people who bought eons from jeff taylor. the sad part is they pooled their retirement accounts to do so thinking that this would be an investment that would manage to send them a check every month. i seem to recall some had worked in this field but i think taylor saw the writing on the wall and offloaded a dying beastie before it lost the value. these sites either make money off of a membership fee or they make money off advertising (so much for each pair of eyeballs (or even one if it be a pirate arrrgh matey) that has an ad pop up in front of them) but then so many of the browsers began to have popup blockers and if you recall, eons after it was sold began to go downhill with any and all ads for anything and lots of them. so i think they were all in and simply couldn't keep operating without capital. thus the servers were blocked for nonpayment of fees (kinda like the landlord of a rooming house locking you out till you pay up). plus social sites come and go in some insane version of fashion or what is hip or whatever else can be the criteria. i have to admit i do miss the flexibility of thee structure of eons tho. heck i miss being flexible myself some days.

you don't have to fight about sex...make a game of it...
