Do you get to at least process some of what you are learning....do a little check up to compare notes and chat with your neighbors sitting beside you.
I get interested in how companies share information and try to teach employees...seems many times it's just something to get through...too bad...ends up being a waste of time doesn't it?

I'm the only one in it here.  Everyone else flew to it.

Broyhill Furniture used to send their dept boss-men to a class . Just to teach them how to make an employee feel better when they got a nickel raise or no raise .every 3 to 6 months . and that's the truth ...

Well that's crappy..all alone..D..you deserve a treat today..I hope they appreciate you.

Wayne..many companies do things like that..lots of people have few if any people skills so companies have to provide the training....sad isn't it?

Itwas in my early work days . When I went to my last job . We got to 50 cent raises per year . Fter I ha been there arround five years . He kepe saying insurance took the raises . Raises came far and far between . Now hese raises were general raises not ass kissers that got more . Last raise I got went 10 years till I was disabled . Started work March of 1979 $3.90 per hour , last 10 years of work was $10.00 per hour but I kept the important bills paid .

guess what, chief? that's the best kind of salesperson. the people who 'have just exactly what you need' no matter what that person really needs are pisspoor salespeople in the long run because the customers KNOW they are being sold. the best salespeople i ever knew, whether it was cars, electrical distribution, or whatever the product, sold people what was best for the customer and knew enough about the actual product to fill the need the customer had without overkill. that translates to happy repeat customers rather than single sales and then one-finger waves when the customers see them again. and that is a lesson business in general desperately needs to relearn to save itself from itself.

Chief how were fringe benifits , any girls , food etc ?

Those trainings and classes were always a big PITA for me, glad those days are over. I had too much actual work and that stressed me out knowing I was losing good time.

Here is a classic. I didn't attend a training session and there was only 1 chance left to attend. My supervisor told me I needed to attend the session to which I said "it would be of no value to me" to which he responded " I had to go...so you have to go". And so it goes.

maybe that's why they don't want older people around...

I could have gone to corporate headquarters with the rest of them, it's in Tennessee but I didn't want to be a week behind on my regular work.  Also it is a long flight and my back hates to sit that long.

At least you are apparently keeping up on your irregular work.
