Cold and rainy here today.  Great day for cocooning, but since I vowed not to cook for the rest of 2013, we went out to a local place for dinner where people were watching the football games on about twelve screens.  It didn't seem like they realized it was raining and they should stay home.  They were loud and drunk and having a great time.

I had delicious short ribs braised in wine, broccoli rabe, and mushroom risotto with a Irish coffee chaser that warmed the cockles of my heart.  Then we came home and watched Sunday Morning together on the DVR.  So , not much happening, but still not a bad day.

Husband watched football, I made split pea soup with the leftover Christmas ham. We walked in the park with the dogs because the weather has been in the high 70's and low 80's and will continue all week. I read my book and played here on the computer. A relaxing Sunday with no company, after the holidays I'm companied out.

Hey everyone.  I had a most relaxing day.  Started it out by curling up with a book in bed.  I have to admit, one chapter and I was snoozing again.  When I got up the second time, I showed and picked up the house a bit, not much to do really.  Caught a couple of good romantic movies, "Something has to Give" and "Message in a Bottle", then I sorted through the gifts I received, some I want to bring down to the RI place.  Made myself some dinner, played on the computer and went to bed early.  Of course now I am up in the middle of the night.  But it was a really nice day.

Raining yesterday here too...slept in, all that overcast was good sleeping weather. Visited with two of my Aunts, my Mom's sisters. The older one having a birthday and the other put a luncheon together...a relaxing afternoon and evening...good food, good company.
I watched the Kennedy honors last evening..a nice eclectic mix of music.

I watched them too.  I agree the mix was very eclectic.    I liked the color of Michelle Obama's dress and she of course looked stunning, but I wasn't sure that I was a fan of the off-the-shoulder detail, it seemed a bit odd to me.  Enjoyed the program though.

Saturday it shot up to 40º and was sunny, but yesterday temperatures plummeted and this morning brought -18º and the high is predicted to be -1. While I snowshoed over a mile on Saturday, on Sunday I just feed the birds and brought in an armful of firewood. I did quite a bit of reading on Sunday also and am almost done with The Murder of Napoleon. I pay as little attention to sports as possible so that is not a factor in anything for me.  Relisted a few things on eBay. Plan on heading into town today.

Have a Happy New Year.

Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.

Thank you all for responding!  I love to get a little snap shot into what everyone is doing.

My husband took this whole week off.  He doesn't go back to work until after New Year's day.  Not used to having him here 24/7.  It's a prelude to when he has to leave work for disability.  AAGGHH!

As I always say, some people are cut out for marriage and some are not.  And so we beat on, boats against the current, ( Great Gatsby).

We're going to a casino on NY Eve.  My friends and my husband will gamble and I will  go to the Irish pub in the corner and sing along to songs from the old sod.  If I weren't Italian, I'd be Irish!

I am in the I'd say around first 10 % of an intense research project, recovering and reassembling a large database that was lost when my hard drives crashed; About three weeks of almost daily labor so far, around 9 to 10 hours per, and I've barely scratched the surface - This was a pile of info and ideas that I'd been compiling for almost forty years, and it was all lost last July when BOTH of my computers' hard drives fried, about a week apart - The laptop that was going to be the back-up went first, and the second one pooched while the laptop was in the shop, being fixed.
Luckily I have something of an internet root cellar that should make one aspect of the reassembly considerably easier than the original process, but about 30% of it was on those hard drives and nowhere else - Moments of inspiration, ideas for set lists, historical info and ideas for relatable songs...All Gone. Back to Square One, I guess.

Which is why I haven't been here much lately. Maybe I need a good political scandal to erupt, so as to get my mind out of the tedium that has occupied it for the last three weeks...Get the ol' gadfly juices going again.

I will NEVER forget that you wished us all Happy something something during this season, Snagg, lol.

A little late to the party but I spent the weekend in my jammys on the sofa.  Back at work today closing the books for the month and year.  Don't go out NYE, too many drunks and the weather is ick here.  Will buy a good bottle of wine and watch old movies I guess.
