Christmas vacation?

Well, this year my annual Christmas trip home didn't go as I expected. Along with all the usual chaos of shopping, wrapping and baking, we went through my great grandchildren, and their mother, down almost a week with a nasty flu. Then my best friend lost her son....a playmate of both my boys......to a sudden heart attack. He was 44 years old. And now my son-in-law's mother is dying. As unhappy and inconvenient as this all was......I am so very glad it happened while I was here. I have been a huge help to my granddaughter's family, a much-needed comfort to my friend, and now a house sitter and chief cook and bottle washer for my daughter while she works and her husband is gone. So it wasn't all one long party; it's nice to know I am still needed in a crisis. Guess I'm still good for something.

sure you're still good for somethin karin .. and look on the bright side .. the world didn't end on the 21st.. its all downhill from here .. yup it is ..

Thanks, Kathy. It's just part of life's bumps in the road. And as we all know....Death doesn't take a holiday. I'm just glad I could help out. I hope your Holiday was great, and that you're all rested and ready to take on the "little people" again.

That's a lot to put on people's plates, isn't it? It's good that you were there in these crises. Nothing like a mom, grand-mom and great-grandma to ease some of the burden for their kids. I hope 2013 treats you wonderful. :-)

Gosh that is a awful lot to deal with especially now at the holidays. I'm always around here somewhere and am a good listener with big shoulders if you need at anytime Karin. Sometimes helping others helps us take our minds off our own problems.Hang in there and remember "IF HE BROUGHT YOU TO IT HE WILL BRING YOU THROUGH IT."
