I never really believe I a "missing link". I believe the evolutionary trail had many crook, turns and dead ends. So finding one missing link doesn't fit. There would be many missing links.

Pigeon toed and unable to run? Wouldn't that define a dead end?

I agree with P.A.  I believe there were many "missing links".
