German Christmas Market “Weihnachtsmarkt Texas Style”

December 9, 10 &11, 2011, “Second Saturday & Sunday in December”
Fri 6 pm-10 pm Sat 10 am – 10 pm Sun 12 am – 6 pm

Come and enjoy the family-friendly ambience – Gemütlichkeit – of this unique music/street festival with three stages of live music and an open air market along with antique shops in the old town area.

Tap your feet to the music of Alpenfest, Chris Rybak, Terry Cavanaugh, Das Ist Lustig, Tubameisters, Valina, and get into the festive spirit with the sounds of strolling Christmas carolers. It’s a Texas German celebration at Christmas time on the old downtown streets of Tomball Texas.

An estimated 150 unique and interesting street vendors will line Market and S. Walnut Streets, selling German Christmas items, arts and crafts, and much more. Visit the “Weihnachtshaus” inside the Community Center at 221 Market Street at the corner of Cherry Street which will be filled with German clothes and souvenirs for sell.

Have a great weekend, Aggie!

Pru and I did have Prune kolache at the Weihnachtsmarkt! Pru also walked a mile for a camel, got to see St Nick, the Grinch, lots of hats and elves. We shared apple strudel and German pizza.

2012

Also known as my 3 day birthday party was canceled this year.

Little German lesson ,Did you know Santa's reindeer Donner and Blitzen mean thunder and lightning ? The word flock in German is flake so if you get your Christmas tree flocked it gets flaked (snow) . The song O Tannenbaum O Tannenbaum is translated O Christmas Tree O Christmas tree but a Tannenbaum is a Fir tree a Christmas tree is a Weihnachtsbaum . In the song Silent night Stillenacht Jesus is described as having curly hair.
