SUGAR LAND (City of Sugar Land) – The City of Sugar Land, along with Opening Day Partners LLC, has announced plans for a $30 million stadium to house its new minor league baseball team.
The stadium will be a flexible multi-use facility that will be used year-round for college and high school baseball tournaments, concerts and various community events.
A cost-benefit analysis shows an annual benefit of $7.7 million or a total return of $169 million over a span of 30 years.
Funding for the stadium will partially be drawn from sales tax revenue that was approved during a special election on Nov. 4, 2008.
Sugar Land’s new baseball team plans to take the field in April 2012.
