TBD

TBD on Ning

Come on back, pull up a chair, make yourself at home.

I know there's other social groups & threads where folks can just hangout on tbd ning, but I thought I'd try one as a thread in the Forum. If it takes off, great - & if it doesn't, it'll just fade into the sunset....

So, think of this as a place to stop in, say hi to each other, maybe have some conversations in real time or almost-real-time.

Welcome to Taylor's Backyard.....

Good morning, Beth!
Good MORning, Forum gang!
I need a little music to get me going & outta here....

Happy Sunday evening, gang! Look who's hanging out in the back yard tonight -
the Carolina Chocolate Drops! and they're even gonna play a little bluegrass for us!

Here's a bio tidbit on them....
In the summer and fall of 2005, three young black musicians, Dom Flemons, Rhiannon Giddens, and Justin Robinson, made the commitment to travel to Mebane, N.C., every Thursday night to sit in the home of old-time fiddler Joe Thompson for a musical jam session. Joe was in his 80’s, a black fiddler with a short bowing style that he inherited from generations of family musicians. He had learned to play a wide ranging set of tunes sitting on the back porch with other players after a day of field work. Now he was passing those same lessons on to a new generation.

Actually, I met the young man on the left there, Dom Flemons, last night at a blues bar. They'd performed at Criminal Records during the day & Atlanta's Variety Playhouse in the evening. Dom & several other blues musicians came to the blues bar where I was & wound up jamming for hours w/the blues band there. It was a real treat. This guy is delightfully eccentric. I really enjoyed meeting him & watching him perform. When he first arrived, he was standing next to me & we were listening to the band on stage together. He put his drink down on my table & I leaned into him & said, "that'll be a dollar." He looked as if he believed me for a second! haha So I smirked at him, & he smirked back & said he'd just put it in his pocket - a topless plastic tumbler full of ice & drink. He got the last word I guess. '-) If I've piqued your interest in them, please check out their website for great bios and info and music.... http://www.carolinachocolatedrops.com/about
Very nice!
Glad you enjoyed it! The show last night was really great. I'm ready for more!
The first time I saw Mayall was at an empty hockey rink in Atlanta. Clapton wasn't with him then, only Jeff Beck and Steve Winwood. Pity.

Looks like we've got Atlanta & blues as a common thread tonight. Think I'll fire up
the grill, put on some ribs & make some cornbread & butterbeans to go w/them.
And as long as I'm heatin' up the kitchen I might as well make some Collard Greens, too.
We can use the cornbread to sop up the pot liquor.

"'Only' Jeff Beck & Stevie Winwood", he says. Sheesh....
