Simple question cowboy,  and others...why did the Indians call liquor "firewater?"

Did you know that Vince Gill was a member of that band.

I think thy recruited him  in 1979 and left to solo in'82.

Vince Gill was a member of a band called firewater? I did not know that. The things you can learn from a history teacher!!!!

Origin:
1820–30; fire + water; probably a translation of an expression in an Algonquian language, as Ojibwa iškote·wa·po·  whiskey (earlier, other distilled liquors), equivalent to iškote·w-,  combining form of iškote·  fire + -a·po·  liquid
Big heap liquid make mind go watery, on fire...

Not the answer Dennis. Try again.

I think it burned their mouths when they drank it.

No P.A. It has something to do with the taste.

I was gonna say they dropped some ashes from their peace pipe in it and it caught fire, but if it has something to do with taste, all I got to wonder is when did they taste fire?

Are you taking pictures now Dennis?  Or is it something else? lol

I stand by my answer...LOL
