I read "The Four Winds" by Kristen Hannah. Set during the depression/dust bowl. Somewhat depressing, but quite good...could almost taste the dust.

I've read and enjoyed several of her books. I prefer 'modern' settings, though.  I've just started a book Group, if you are interested--I'm a voracious reader, lol.

I usually stick to 'cozy mysteries' but I recently came across several  SF books. Actually 1 could be called a cozy in space (future) with murders and a very surprising finale: Off World Hotel & Resort by Dave Terruso. The second one I read was just as good, but darker: Before the Last Star Falls by Lisa L Tallabas.  Also very good.  I have one more, but will go back to my normal genre first.
