i don't know. if i retired,i would still wanna be doing what i'm doing.
Nope, not Washington state..But then I don't consider this my state.
Florida is known as "God's waiting room"...I think some comedian said that about Florida. Lots of elderly move here so I assume there is something about this state that appeals to retired folks from other states.
I think the warmer weather is a draw...there is no state income tax... there is a relatively low cost of living compared to many other states. Many businesses cater to the elderly and have been created just for that purpose.
Like anywhere, there are pluses and minuses.
It is for me..weather is always nice, no snow, the state is really large so it's different for people in other areas, probably not great as far as taxes and cost of living. I've lived in states with no income tax, they are more expensive for other things like auto tags and utilities.
seems like they getcha one way or the other.
What are rent prices for a one or two bedroom apartment ?
i like it here,i'll more than likely die here.
New Jersey has the highest property taxes in the nation. While I think it's really beautiful here, it is not retirement friendly at all.
how's the bass fishing?
For WHATEVER reason, statistically, Pennsylvania is in the top 4 (may even be #2) for the elderly population. I certainly wouldn't even LIVE here if it wasn't CHEAP for me and some of my family lives here. Well, guess I will always have a job if I stay here...haha!
P.A....I don't know about the whole state of Tennessee but Chattanooga was a great place to live...had EVERYTHING you need with close proximity. I mean, whether you wanted major shopping, any restaurant you can think of, museums, aquariums, mountains, or a quiet lake, you had it in minutes. Traffic wasn't much of an issue unless you were near the one highway going towards Atlanta around rush hour which was only an hour and a half away. If you wanted to get away for the weekend, you could end up in one of 4 major cities in less than 2 hours. OR the Smokies. Florida was about 4 hours away, 7 for an oceanfont. The winters are short and very cold for about 2 months. (Rarely below 30 at those cold times) Apartment living there is like living in a resort (compared to the city I live in NOW which is Pittsburgh. Apartments are SHABBY here)
