...any "Crud Bums" when you were a kid?

Crud Bums.....I don't know where we got that term, but the whole family used it, even Pops, who was mostly clueless to "hip" terms.

To us, a Crud Bum was a disreputable person, mostly male, maybe kind of scruffy looking...shifty....the kind of kid your parents didn't want you to be around.  A kid who cheated at marbles could be one. It could be an adult, too......just some guy walking along the street might be dubbed "Crud Bum".

Eddie Haskell comes to mind, but he was pretty slick looking.  Pig Pen, in Peanuts, was kinda close, but he wasn't disreputable.  Kramer?  Naw, he was goofy, but not a Crud Bum.  Maybe a guy like Jim Rockford, in more bummy clothes, would be a good example.  There were a couple kids in my 'hood who qualified.  I wonder what ever happened to 'em?

I don't remember Mike and Timmy. Who are they?

I actually know the term. I didn't hang out with any, I was too girly :-)

The first person that came to mind while reading this was Charlie Sheen after a long night. Lindsay Lohan would qualify also...

Mike and Timmy were a couple of guys in my 'hood.

Charlie and Lindsay....yup, good choices.  You don't find too many women Crud Bums, but Lindsay would be one.

Oh, lets see, was it Ratso Rizzo?  He would qualify, I'm thinkin'.
Crud Bums have floated in and out of my life since I was a kid, I guess.  No harm, no foul.....they're part of the tapestry of life too.  they usually have some good tales of life to tell.
Agreed....there's that whole CBGC thing going on for women.......Crud Bum Glass Ceiling.
I attended a small school system in a country town where virtually everyone came from a dairy or farm. To be honest, I don't remember anyone of that description while I was there (12 years) That type of person wouldn't have lasted long there. I've seen a few during my life since then.....I stayed away from 'em.
Yah, I think Crud Bums are more of an urban species.
Lenny and Squiggy on Laverene and Shirley. There were some of them in high school but I stayed away from them.
Yup, those two guys were clueless, as well.
I was the guy that Crud Bums parents warned them to stay the hell away from.

Huh?

Good point, I see them regularly when in center city.
Sadly, I am accustomed to them and don't notice so much.
