Back in the day.....what length did you go to to get into the local theater for the double feature? Did you ride your bike 20 miles or get your best friend to "borrow" his brothers car for the afternoon?
Did you hide kids in the trunk to miss out on paying extra at the drive in?
My brother came to visit and we (me and my 3 kids) went to a movie. He, being the good Uncle, bought tickets to an appropriate movie for all of us. How generous! When we got past the ticket taker he promptly took the younger nephews down the hall to another movie...a not so appropriate one..! He went up about 20 notches with the nephews...heard about that for years.
Daughter and I saw some dumb movie

We walked about a mile past the haunted cemetery. When we got to the start of the cemetery we had to kneel down and say an Our Father to protect us from the ghosts---it was true, my twelve year old cousin told us so!
As a teen, two would buy tickets and then open the exit door at the far end of the theater so the rest of us could sneak in...
My movie theaters were always in walking distance - It's Brooklyn, after all! :-)
I grew up in the country. The nearest town with a movie theater was about 15 miles. Generally we would go to "town" about every two weeks on a Saturday. There was always business that my mother and father had to do and usually my sister would stay with them. My brother and I would go to the movies. It was usually a serial of some sort like Flash Gordon and a Western. The really funny part about it is my father would give easch of us a quarter. With that we could get in the movie and have popcorn and coke.
We went to the movies today and saw Season of the Witch. It cost the two of us $14 to get see the movie and another $9 for Caleb to have popcorn and a coke.
