I sure like that potato salad they have at Tom's Market....you know, the kind with eggs, not that German variety. As for fudge, well, I live right on the outskirts of Fudgieville, where they have stores cranking it out for the vacationers. I like peanut butter fudge the best.
Potato salad and fudge, h-m-m-m-m-m, there's a couple of items I'd never consider actually making, at least as long as I have money in my pocket to buy them.
Geez I hope I didn't kill this thread before it even got started.
I've never made fudge. I've always considered it a summer treat that I get at the beach.
My potato salad is very basic, but people seem to like it.
Just onions, celery, salt, pepper, and mayonnaise.
Cause good tater salad has mustard in it...
Quick story....
I was raised on potato salad with a little mayo and a lot of mustard. Didn't know any other way till I left home. My late wife was raised on potato salad w/o mustard at all. Granted it was good, but I always retrieved the mustard from the refridgerator when she served it. With a look that could instantly freeze molten steel she always said, "I see you're gonna eff up my potato sald again."
What can i say.....???
:-)))
It's all what we're accustomed to I guess.
A lot of people in this area put vinegar in theirs :-(
Use a bag of those teeny tiny multi-colored taters. People will look at it and say "Wow, I didn't know they made blue potatoes!"
I love 'taters in any way, shape or form. I''m especially fond of german-style potato salad, served warm ...love that vinegar. Mustard potato salad....just a hint...do not turn it yellow...blech...
I like MY fudge...none of that creamy or marshmallowy gooey consistency. I follow the purist recipe from "Joy of cooking" circa....way back when. But I am a sucker for "Joannes" fudge from Mackinaw Island...it's so cute in that little white box with the plastic knife...
