As to how far off the TV NCIS is from the real NCIS. Not that far actually. It is a TV program after all and some of the forensics and electronic tracking are compressed beyond belief time wise, they are pretty acurate as to technique and case development. One of my old partners works as a technical advisor to the production crew and he keeps them honest in those areas. For instance, he took Cote de Pablo (Diva) out to the pistol range for two day to teach her weapon skills. At least she now looks like she knows what she is doing with a Sig Sauer pistol.

Actually, no. I used westerly to denote west-coast-ness. However, I was born and raised in New England, (CT), and resided there until adulthood. Do they call big blimpy sandwiches on hard bread "ginders" there in RI? We used to call them "grinders" in Ct and MA.
