Very pretty....they are short and sweet, but broken bicycles is most beautiful...The thought of the old bicycle with the cards in the spokes brought back memories of puff the magic dragon..I used to feel so forlorn when I would listen to that song..so sad I had put away my favorite things and moved on..It was almost like a betrayal to my childhood. Why do we have to move on so quickly?..Maybe we don't..Maybe we can restructure our old thinking so we can be kids again...Maybe grown up is only what we are taught.
I do like broken bicycles...I have to check the others out, it's been a while since I have listened to Tom Waits, although I do have a cd or two by him my friend sent to me a few years ago. I like his old time style & gravely voice.
Thanks Phil...I identify a little with the characters in natural Born Killers....I have never been a viloent person, but by any rights I should have been. If it wasn't for all the good music and poetry I have listened to...who knows. Anyway, I get a peculiar pleasure out of watching that girl give that guy a good beating. I suppose the movie signifies the Uglyness of human nature with a twist..The young people being the heroes getting back at the narcissistic, sadistic idiots of the world, but the sad part is they have become what they hate.
I love Leonard Cohen also...i love his lyrics and pretty melodies. All of the tunes you put up are beautiful. I like Tom Waits too, but I find him a little harder to get into. Here are a few more Cohens tunes I like....
