The craziness started with the Bush/Paulson TARP program in October of 2008.

Year and a half? You are not angry about anything that has gone down prior to the last year and a half...Now..That is very amusing. And yes OC...I believe our whole system is broken..Putting anyone back into it is only self serving to the party who wins, but will not fix anything. Then they all proceed to do whatever is self serving and to pander to the people who are really pulling the strings. The very rich and powerful who own us.

Do you really think a republican will change things?..Heck no...We are going to see America go under because we refuse to see what is really happening..It is all in the game plan of the very rich and powerful who realize the world is over populated and don't give a damn if we kill one another off...They look at it as leveling out the playing field..We are only ants to them..we don't have names and faces....we are dots of dust....The people you see on stage are only puppets of the puppet masters.....

OC, I am a Conservative and agree with everything you have written. I to am very worried about the direction of this country. Soon we will have a 14 trillion dollar debt. This government can not keep spending. This coming November you will see a BIG change in Washington. Many incumbents are going to be thrown out of office. The people are angry of what has happened the last year and a half. We can not continue on this path of destruction to our country.

gee you guys, i never thought of myself as the 'all-powerful, all-knowing OZ'. i've always made clear that i'm not politically savvy -- not my strong suit. and the extent of my 'rallying' talents were high school pep rallies, parties, and reunions. although they were very successful events, political rallies aren't my deal.

one thing i know is that we still have choices....for now.

one of the things that makes me suspect that our liberties and freedoms are at risk is the way new bills have been written, stating that they cannot be changed or amended once signed. why not? this would suggest that our current president is behaving as a dictator, rather than a president. do we still have a government that is "by the people, for the people"?

and how do you know that these recent outrageous events aren't just a litmus test to gauge how much crap the public will tolerate before they call their leadership on their bullshit -- be it overspending, raising taxes, health care, bailouts, cash for clunkers programs or what-have-you ?

government thinks we're so overwhelmed that we're not paying attention --- asleep at the wheel. many of us are overwhelmed --- but we need to wake up and pay attention anyway! this is about our future and the future of our children and grandchildren and generations to come.

it would seem the actions of the government are creating the division amongst our people, and in turn will be the fuel for a civil war, of sorts. although i'd like to believe that we've come further than that in 150 years.

one question is:
how much of our country do you really want to be government-owned?
here's an example: the US postal service does a good enough job, but they raise the price of postage every time you turn around. there are people who can pay tolls to get to and from work for less than what it costs to mail a letter. it wasn't so long ago that the price of postage was considered 'reasonable'.

here's another:
medicare

want another?
amtrack

you may be interested to know there are different levels of government ownership of companies -- GLC, GOC. find more information and the history of how this has turned about in other countries here:

you've seen world leaders get together and schmooz since you were little...what ideas do you suppose have been comin' home to mama all these years?

think about it.

look, i'm not political -- but you don't have to be "political" to see what's happening to our great country. however, i am a very concerned citizen. i've not been one to divide groups, rather my talent is to groups of different thoughts and constituencies together to peacefully and productively caucus. i didn't produce, direct or write that (well done) short -- but i recognize that it drives home some serious points regarding government performance in the past year which aren't helping to improve our national position and situtation.

whether you voted for obama or not, you still had hope that US state of the state and foreign affairs would turn around and improve in short order.

it hasn't.

it's worse.

and my nephew is currently engaged in his 4th tour of afghanistan -- under 2 presidents now. sadly, there are many others in the same position. they are there to fight to protect our freedom -- 24/7 -- while you go about your daily life, enjoy a concert, make love and sleep in the comfort of your cozy, warm bed -- protected from the natural elements of heat, rain, wind, cold, snow --- and those who would love to see you dead for no other reason than you are not like them. you don't believe what they believe.

the country has long been fragmented, paul. and we're now seeing the eruption of a longtime underground zit -- you know what i'm talkin' about --- they linger seemingly forever, are more painful than others, they don't come close enough to the surface to break -- but don't go away, either. the bump is always there, in various stages of pain and unsightliness. and our government is slicing and dicing and squeezing the shit out of it, and then throwing band aids on to cover it. the result...a big ol' ugly scar.
hint: it's UNDER the band aid. but it's there.

all because they don't know how to treat it.

and we've become a people of (take your choice):
-- 'out of sight, out of mind'
-- 'if we don't see it, it doesn't exist'
-- 'if i don't watch, it'll go away'

c'mon...we're guilty of that to one degree or another. these overwhelming government issues would just push us over the top. the thing is, that our leadership is made up of people, too. they're like us. they have the same frailties as we do. and i suspect that our current state of affairs is too much for them to handle, too.

so here's another question:
could it be that they're spending like there's no tomorrow because they know something we don't? ...yet?

caseyjo wants a new country...at least that's how i interpreted your statement, casey: We need a new watch with all new parts.
ok, but is socialism the answer? it didn't work for the USSR -- or have we all forgotten about that? or ever didn't learn about it cuz we weren't faced with living in those conditions on a day to day basis? ask someone from there....there are plenty of them living here who came in search of 'a better life'.

and paul, 'personal jihad' is a little dramatic --- even for you ;-)
but to your point, if you read my words, you will find that i don't attack anyone. i present information to consider -- food (or fodder) for thought. and nancy pelosi is still very relevant, as she continues her reckless spending binge. a californian i'm NOT proud of....and ps, california unemployment is about 17% -- but that's only what's being reported. some speculate it's much higher than that. just think what could have been done to help so many with just saving her private jet expenses alone! if it's true that it costs $60K PER FLIGHT, that would be half of someone's college education, meaning a round trip between her california and dc homes would pay for someone's ENTIRE COLLEGE EDUCATION! $480K a month --- a condo (in california). $5.7M a year --- wow...now there's some serious greenbacks to aid education, environment -- all the things we've cut back on for so long that are now decayed.

United we stand, divided we fall..You make it sound like I have some sort of real choice...To put a person into a broken down system is a choice? I don't think so...I would like to hear some good suggestions from people instead of this same sick promotional stuff...We are doomed if we don't use out thinking caps here. People who are fighting to put people into this broken down system are just fooling themselves.

Its like putting one new piece into a watch full of rusty parts..The new piece migt possibly keep the watch running for a little while longer, but eventually the watch will break down again...We need a new watch with all new parts.

yeah, ok...but hiding won't make it better, either. it's time we stand up for and protect our freedoms....cuz if we don't do it now, they'll be taken from us.

Just more of the same old tired thing. Pitting people against people, and No good ideas....I know I am sick of it and am really glad I got rid of cable news...Next election I will cover my TV with a sheet and pretend it is not there. I will scream bloody murder the next time anyone even says the words democrat or republican within earmark, (Gawd...what a choice of words)....I mean ear-shot of me so I don't have to hear a word they say.
